I wonder if AMD risizeable bar will help

No not as far as i can tell (I have it enabled). Ill use riva tuner and make a more accurate observation later.

As far as aura sync is concerned Strix B550 gaming F wifi  for me its showing 1.5 percent cpu usage.. meh ill leave it on.

The problem with RGB drivers, RTSS, and all these tools, is that is it documented they are inducing stuttering in VR, when using any NVIDIA Driver released after 446.14. This is not voodoo magic nor speculation either, it was posted on the NVidia forums by an NVidia employee.

There is at least one driver version which has large consensus in FS2020 VR and it is 457.30. Newest drivers are working good for some, but 457.30 remains the undisputed FS2020 VR champion by many reports at the FS2020 VR forums.

OK I will a little later right now I'm at FL190 heading for KDEN from CYYC in the lovely PMDG NGUx. ;o)

OK, now the lowly GPU which I stated is indeed insufficient at ultra settings no contest there.  I have clouds and reflections to High, everything else at Ultra, 100/200/200.   Note the RAM in use, and also the main thread (in MSI OSD) is well below 70%:  Bring in DX-12 and I think there will be room for PMDGware.

Dev-Mode.png

I see that the game shows that your card have 7243 mb Vram even though your card has 8mb, the game also shows that my 2080ti has about 1 mb less available Vram than what the card actually has, I wonder why?

So, my 32GB dominator platinum RAM just arrived. Same timings as my other 32GB. Using XMP.

This is100% not Placebo, and I am not sure what kind of black magic it is, but, its eliminated any micro stuttering. To be sure, I just removed the 32GB and did the same flight, then loaded it back and repeated. To make sure I wasn't going insane! It literally has removed any trace of micro stutter. I notice now I have a tiny pagefile?

Anyways, I *only* paid £130 for the extra RAM (got it cheap) so, for me , super result.

Is this for 2D or VR?

I run butter smooth stutter free in 2D already with 32GB @1440P.

I only get stutters in VR

Installs a 3090 and still suffers from microstutters that's really sad.  Maybe two 3090's in SLI might help?  Oh, then he'll need another 64Gb of ram.

Struggling to understand this really- when I went to 64gb (2*32 @3600) I got more noticeable stutters and a slight reduction in FPS over PG London. Putting back the 4*8 @ 3600 and it went back to smooth.

However I do notice that after a while the manipulators go from running green to red with a constant degradation in latency. Perhaps this is the page file building?

I returned the RAM as I wasn't happy that I had to drop the CAS latency down from the XMP numbers but I doubt moving down 1 notch would cause stutters

The other part I observed was that windows allocates half your system RAM for shared VRAM. So at 64gb sys RAM and a 3090, 56gb becomes the shared value! It's not used though and the 3090 in 5760 Res (nvsurround) would peak at 11gb VRAM

Why is windows allocating so much RAM as shared for VGA?

Or, maybe just a better coded sim? X-Plane Vulkan is really like butter. No other sim comes close.

There are too many variables at play for most people to test this reliably, but given the low cost of 64GB ram, mise well if you are going to have to buy an expensive video card. I probably wouldn't bother with anything less than an Nvidia 3080 or AMD 6800.

You need 2 identical PC's to really thoroughly test this stuff, everyone will say its not placebo, but placebo is the strongest effect there is, it can literally cure cancer (in some cases). It could be valid in some cases, but I've seen very very few games benefit from 32GB to 64GB in any benchmarks, no idea about in VR though. Definitely possible there is other stuff going on, but if I just judge it based on past history, it really shouldn't, but it is what it is, and who knows.

Agreed.  It is also very subjective, I have seen a very stuttery game where one person looking has said "what is wrong with it, looks fine".    The other problem (and we get this at work with some of our developers) is some people will just deny user reports can be possibly be factual because what the users are reporting seems illogical. At work we just have to insist that "yes even though it makes no sense at all that change could possibly effect the database, that is exactly what the users are reporting and we have observed it and confirmed it is real."

This thread is also getting confused by people jumping in without reading what has gone before.   I have been watching this and so far I have seen just TWO use cases where some (but not all) people have reported noticeable benefits (and no one knows why).

  1. People with lots of VRAM (3090) but even then pretty much only when using a VR headset. Whether that is just WMR headsets, I have no idea.
  2. People trying to increase the accelerated time to very high values (10x) without the AP crashing the aircraft

Outside those two limited scenarios I am not seeing reports of any benefit.  (one person reported benefits using the extra ram as a disk cache but that is totally irrelevant to this discussion)

TLDR - 64GB is minimal or no benefit unless you use VR or want to accelerate sim time up around 10x

That is hella impressive then!

Congrats! Its truly a dream come true to have ZERO stutters in VR on some very nice visual eye candy settings!

As for placebo effect others are stating, when it comes to stutters/microstutters its pretty cut and dry...either they are there or they aren't.

I think anyone who's been simming the past 20+ years can distinguish stutters and the total elimination of stutters in these sims as they have been haunting us forever.

Can you test P3Dv5 and XP11 also if you own them?
