Nothing has changed with regards hotkey to request higher or lower for many, many months. It is assumed when you made request for FL 380, you had 35000 showing in autopilot. Which plane by the way?

Hi Gerald, i´am still using P3D 5.1, PF3 and MCE, because MSFS has to mature before it´s worth to switch over for me. I don´t want to swag, but i can proudly say I´am using a fullsize Homecockpit of an Airbus A320 with every single switch and knob via hardware controlled. P3D is only the immage generator for the world outside my cockpitwindow. The FMGS system of my A320 is reflected by a high level and very complete software suite by Jeehell via networked PC´s acting like the FADAC and FMGS computers in the real steel. The aircraft which is used is an adapted version of the freeware A320 by Project Airbus. Of course, the MCE FO has not the capabilty to change the freqencies in my Hardware RMP or TCAS transponder, (yet) but the frequencies are tuned correctly in P3D where Pf3 is looking at. 

I can fully believe that you haven´t changed anything else in MCE. It´s just what i have seen what happened. But i also have the experience, that sometimes it seems to take a while and some additonal usage of MCE and PF3, and small issues like i mentioned are gone like a haunting. 

I did NOT request FL380, it´s just the result what MCE and PF3 came out with, because of cascading misinterpretation of my command. I may wasn´t clear enough on this. So i´ll try in short words again. Because of the absence of an option to request just to start to decent in PF3, like it´s usual for airliners in the realworld, i´am forced to request a lower FL once i have reached the computed top of decent of my MCDU. Though if i come along at FL 350 i ask my FO to request the next lower FL like FL300 for instance. This allways worked like a swiss clockwork before the patch. At my last 3 legs with the patch installed i was doing the same and asked my FO to request the next lower FL300 by talking to MCE like "request flightlevel three zero zero or threehundred". But the FO then said "yepp, munich radar, Lufthansa 123 request higher altitude, flightlevel threezerozero". Because of the wrongly requested higher FL by MCE, PF3 cleared me to FL380, which wasn´t what i want. I understand that MCE monitors at which altitude i´am actually at. That´s why i can´t understand why MCE asking for a higher instead of a lower altitude, because the requested 300 is lower as 350k feet i was cruising at.

Let me keep watching the evolving behavior of MCE the next few legs.I´ll let you know if these issues remain or if they getting less as usual.

Third issue is that now the FO seems not to see the next frequencies. Usually at approach after handed off by approach controller for final i command the FO "going to tower" and allways he tuned the correct freq. and responds like "Presto, Com1, 118.05,...done!" But since the patch he can´t see the freq and responds like "Sorry missed that, what frequency?" An i need to tune the correct freq myself. 

 

All the issues you describe here occured to me from time to time before, even before the latest MCE patch (which I haven't been able to test yet).

The first issue you described occured to me in maybe 10 percent of my flights. As I said before some time ago I cannot rule out that in these cases I haven't had the sim window in focus what might have caused the issue. But it's also possible that sometimes it's just hit and miss (I remember you said you always have your sim window in focus).

The second issue also occurs to me sometimes. Most of the time the level change requests work fine, sometimes they get weird like you described. I haven't found a reason why that is.

The third item is an issue that I have since I switched to the FBW A320 in MSFS a few months ago. MCE hasn't been able to recognize "going to Tower" etc. any more at all ever since (I think I already reported it here in some other thread).

 

So I'm not sure that the issues you describe really only have come up since the latest patch - maybe you have just been lucky before ;-).

Yeah, i take into account that it could also based on rare and occasional circumstances. Just issues which may caused in an MSFS environment can not be the case for me, because i´am on still on P3D.

Sure. I just meant that as a description of at what time I noticed this issue. I don't think it has anything to do with MSFS, because MCE should read the frequencies from PF3, not from the sim. 

Gerald, now after a several number of more flights i´am quite sure that something is not right in MCE as it was before. The issue that my FO is unable to tune the Tower frequency on my order like "going to tower!" he keeps to reply like "uh,...sorry, didn´t get it, ....frequency??". This always worked perfect before the last little patch. 

In conjunction with the issue that my FO has to repeat the contact establishing with some centers on every single leg, when we are asked "Traffic at FL123, squawking..." i have the suspicion that this is depending on each other and the cause is maybe that something is messed with with the reading and setting of the correct frequencies. I have monitored that my FO is indeed tunes the new frequency given and definetly says "Center, Lufthansa 1234 as filed " which seems to go into Nirvana. Maybe because the freq is not exactly set??

Bear in mind, i´am using P3D V5.1 and PF3. No MSFS issues are in charge.

 

while i was stuck in having all these issues with the latest patch, it came to my mind that there can´t be something wrong in it to download the latest version of MCE and uninstall and re-install the latest. And guess what, that´s what i did yesterday. Today i´ve made some legs and, bingo,  everything worked perfect again. No issues anymore, so far.I´am happy again and canceled to bring my life to an end...for now...😜
