February 28, 20215 yr [This post is triggered by the other (excellent) XCub post/image...] I came across a bit of Readme text, in an upload, from yesterday, as follows: "I love Bush Flying!! I have been flying the Norseman since FS2002. I so enjoy this aircraft that I made an FSX replacement panel and gauges....Hope you like the look and feel! I did the best I could on The VC..." These sentiments appealed to me...so, the aircraft and the individual specifics may be different, but, our passions are common...I guess...🙂... Bush flying (and Bush flying history) are fascinating aspects of aviation...and it's worth noting that bush-flying is not merely limited to the remotest and coldest places of Northern Canada, Alaska, Arctic, Antarctic regions, and such, but, it could also refer to flying in the hottest and remotest parts of Kalahari deserts in Africa and such....(the common theme is "remote" and "hard-to-reach" for conventional means of transportation)...! The Noorduyn Norseman is a classic (Canadian) Bush Aircraft, probably not so well-known as some of the DHC, Cessna, and Piper bush-planes. Its first flight was in 1935, and it was produced for nearly 25 years, with over 900 units built, and registered/operated in 68 countries. With the experience of working on many ground-breaking designs at Fokker, Bellanca etc., Norseman was (Dutch-born) Robert B.C. Noorduyn's very first output at his Montreal based Noorduyn factory. Please find, below, 10 (sequential) images of the Norseman, lifting off Lake Wakatipu, in dawn light, towards Queenstown airport (per the interesting geography of Queenstown), heading here, inland, along the lake, opposite to the direction (Rwy 23) I'd (earlier) taken off, in the CRJ-1000 (of my previous post)... Enjoy.
March 3, 20215 yr Super shots. They also used the Norseman a lot in PNG. I have to figure out how to get it into MSFS 🙂 Any attempt to stretch fuel is guaranteed to increase headwinds My specs: AMD Radeon RX6700XT, AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, 32GB RAM, 34" monitor, screen resolution: 2560x1080
