225 @ 3 again

Recommended Posts

I am flying over UK for the second evening in a row and the weather is completely messed up again after the hotfix. Anyone else?

It was pretty accurate over the Caribbean last night. Ended up doing a fun crosswind landing with winds at 22 kts. Will test it now to see if anything is amiss.

I have done 3 flights today, all in California, and the weather was pretty accurate. I am starting to think more and more that issues with the weather are server side.

I get a lot of 17 kt winds in the uk in msfs when the wind in the RW is only about 7 kts.  I do wonder why these anomalies occur.

Only tried one flight on the evening of the hot fix, weather was ok, but my real time well it wasn’t - I had to manually adjust.

There is a good explanation of Metroblue weather and how it's used in MSFS in the flightsimulator forum. Basically, don't expect the online weather to be spot on everywhere you fly. Here's the link; hope this works.

It’s not the fact that it’s not spot on, it’s the fact that it doesn’t work.

The is a massive High sitting over the UK at present, so expect stable low winds in a continuing direction.

Way too random.  One day one flight, it works fine, next day next flight , its clear skies and 225/03.   Pretty annoying. Thinking I may have to get Rex Wx to fill when MSFS wx is taking a sick day because Asobo apparently dont see the problem.

I've resigned myself to accept that MSFS online weather is simply random weather, that law-of-averages dictates will be close to real weather, sometimes, or not. MSFS weather will NEVER be consistently accurate because it's model-based, and not observation-based.

After ALL the hype about weather before release, I allowed myself to have "expectations". One would think that by the time one reaches my age one would have learned to temper expectations...alas, another opportunity to learn.

I will say that MSFS weather can create breathtaking environments, which if they were accurate to local conditions, would be impressive.

That's why it would be so great if we had Active Sky for MSFS. The guys at MS/Asobo promised a lot of things with their superhuman "models" as far as weather is concerned, and people who said that weather add-ons would still add benefit to the sim were laughed at by some users, claiming that the Meteoblue platform was so superior and that MSFS would not need any add-ons. Now we see the results - the optics are stunning, but the accuracy and consistency are at FS9 level.

Active Sky may not have the same optics (for P3D), but they are unmatched in accuracy and support with their 15+ years of experience. That's where my money would go to if I were to wager.

It's not a matter of accuracy, it's NON-EXISTENT meteo, it defaults at 224 @ 3kts, clear skies 29.92
If it defaulted to some random cloudy/random wind and baro I wouldn't even notice, mostly.
