Simconnect suddenly stops working

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I am facing a very frustrating issue, where after some time in flight simconnect is losing control. As a result the airfraft starts drifting from path and eventually crashes, as I cannot have any control by joystick inputs but also the autopilot cannot control the plane. It has happened to both FS Labs and PMDG aircraft using either Ezdok or Chaseplane, which they also lose control. I tried to delete weatherlist.dll as seen in P3D forums but no luck, it happens again. I also tried to uninstall and reinstall all versions of simconnect, still same thing happens.

I'm in the verge to reinstall completely P3D, but as this is always a hassle, does anyone have any idea how to fix this? I'd appreciate any help.

Thank you for your time.

If your hardware is connected via USB make sure power management is disabled for all USB devices. It sounds like your devices are going into sleep mode after a period of no physical movement.

Your experience is very odd so has to be a local issue rather than something inherent in P3D.

Hello Ray,

Thank you for your reply. I'll make sure to give this a try, however I think its something with simconnect. I've found others reporting the same but haven't found a definite solution yet

simconnect not working in europe - Prepar3D Forums

sim stops responding after 7 hours - FSUIPC Support Pete Dowson Modules - The simFlight Network Forums

@ComSimPilot, I didn’t read all the links but given it’s v5 which I don’t have I can’t really help. Seven hours is a long time before a problem strikes. It must be very difficult to work out why.

As mentioned in one discussion the usual option is to fly a default aircraft to see if the problem can be replicated. That might be the best option unattractive though it is. An uninstall and reinstall may fix the problem but you’ll never know what caused it.

Good luck!

To confirm it is a simconnect issue, you can activate simconnect logging by using a simconnect.ini file - see https://forum.simflight.com/topic/45074-help-logging-simconnect/.

There is also a known issue with simconnect in that it fails when the maximum number of clients have been exceeded. If you have a simconnect.log file generated, you can count the number of connections used up to the point when it fails, and see if this number matches the number of simconnect connections used. You can increase that number using the maxClients  attribute - see https://www.prepar3d.com/SDKv4/sdk/simconnect_api/configuration_files/configuration_files_overview.html.
