I thought my flaps were out for awhile. The Mooney would blow by this aircraft. 25 squared sounds like approx 75% power and should yield you roughly 130TAS, give or take. I will check later tonight. Yeah, well that is what I thought, but this aircraft has some major drag going on. Feels like the landing gear is extended. Going to nickname it " The Turtle" 😉 Edited March 12, 20215 yr by Bobsk8
March 12, 20215 yr Aniher thing, folks bragging about the flight model. Trying to do a controlled descent at 500 FPM. Set power and trim and the VS goes from 500 down to 100 up to 900 down and repeats. never ever flew an aircraft that did that. Like Phugoid oscillations. Edited March 12, 20215 yr by Bobsk8

Only one thing left, how do I turn off the avionics before engine shutdown? There doesn't seem to be an 'Avionics Master', so you have to shut each unit off individually. A lot of older airplanes didn't or don't have an 'Avionics Master'. Bill N7IBG

There's just no comparison between this and a mooney for sure 😄 although i find your numbers somewhat low. For example, as we speak im at 5500, climbing at 300fpm, 2400rpm and im doing 121knots and this is with a 3knot headwind. btw, what do you mean with "squared"? Juan Ramos

It is an old school rule of thumb that people still use to work out maximum manifold pressure even though a lot of POH allow MP higher than RPM and it is really only for normally aspirated engines. Works fine with me: 1) reduce MP 2) pitch for 500 fp, 3) trim Life time flight sim enthusiast, current airplane owner 172P (past C182F). Thanks for clarifying that. If i set it to 2500rpm at 8000ft im getting 127knots Juan Ramos

March 12, 20215 yr Oh this square rule! I've been taught it and I thought others until someone asked me why? I look at POH and could find anything! Talked to very experience CFI they told me they been taught by CFI who were WW2 and vets who am I to question them!LOL Went to A&Ps and asked them, they mumbled something about tear and wear and so on, but it still wasn't convincing enough. Finally got hold very old and already retiring FAA inspector and asked him about square rule! He said back in days of old radial engine if MP exceeds certain number while rpm was set low, prop governor would street crankshaft by trying to decelerate it, which in turn put stress on the cylinders and they pop! Bingo! Big radial engine and old school! LOL So here it is! Life time flight sim enthusiast, current airplane owner 172P (past C182F).
