I don’t have a Mega account, and I’m not logged into one.

I don’t know what you were doing, but you don’t need an account to download from that site.
Maybe you clicked the wrong thing on the page.

@raymar I think I see what you did. One the download page, there is a drop-down panel which has the download button. If you clicked on the arrow button in the centre bottom of that panel - labelled 2Collapse2 - (or if your browser) did something odd, the panel retracts upwards and you see the create account button it was hiding. The download panel is still at the very top of the screen to enable it to be accessed again. If you scroll down even slightly with the mouse, the panel tends to retract again.
