March 16, 20215 yr Just got myself the very, very impressive RAF Coningsby from flightsim.to. https://flightsim.to/file/10045/egxc-raf-coningsby Highly recommended. Couldn't see a donate button but if the author wants to put one there I'm in. Better than a fair bit of the payware I've bought lately. My new usual thing - record the flight and then come back to replay to look around, take pix etc. Bit of a frustrating flight, was hit unbelievably badly with the low FPS (2-10), stutters etc. So bad at the end of the flight I couldn't control the aircraft, getting 1 fps at most. I wasn't sure whether to just post one of these shots in the "videos" section - it was that slow. Got some nice snaps on the replay though. and away - oop north. I have my LODs set to 5.0 via the config.opt file, and if you can get away with this, I think it's definitely worth doing. Now you may not be able to see this unless you've also got a big screen and/or 4k, but I spotted a little bump on the horizon, about a quarter of the way in from the left, in this shot. It's pretty flat country out there, so that had to be either a cathedral or a MS spike. So I paused the replay and got out the drone and went off to check. Ladies and gents - Lincoln Cathedral. I was running LittleNavMap at the time and I reckon this was around 14 miles away from the aircraft in the picture above. So, on we go I'll stop this post here. I'll do part two tomorrow. Oh, and the fairly constant use of the airbrake is because this is not the ideal thing to go sightseeing in - it does tend to want to run away. Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used
