I wonder what would happen if a  thread like ths was started on the X Plane forum?? 

This thread will be locked soon. Before it becomes part of our history, I want to say that I'm grateful that we have three excellent platforms from which to chose. There are others, but P3D, X-Plane, and now MSFS are three sims that thanks to affordable SSD with 4TB of space, one can try and enjoy all 3. Personal attacks are not tolerated at AVSIM gentlemen. Let's get with the program!

This is exactly why people have been annoyed by MSFS bashing (and most of the time with baseless claims) on X-Plane forums, glad that you pointed this double standard out. Not even mentioning some people in some X-Plane servers who say FBW did nothing other than a few fancy display mods.

Someone is now having a holiday following insulting comments. I'm also moving this topic to the X-Plane forum as it's less likely to attract negative comments.

You can make them look very well, but only with a lot of work/cost/hard drive space and also only locally. And then there are still immersive things like grass on every field you decide to do a bush landing on.

Whataboutism... Two wrongs don't make a right.

I thought developers were supposed to be responsible and try to stop that kind of thing happening at first place, not act like them and turn it into a my game > your game fight.

Where did that logic come from??  I've been objective in every post I've made.  I've admitted X-Planes faults.  I've sung MSFS' praises.  I've said, many times, MSFS looks absolutely stunning!  I've also said X-Plane's flight dynamics are superior.  I can only speak for myself, and I always WILL only speak for myself.

I have absolutely zero influence in people's thinking or what they post in forums.  For you to think I have this kind of Jedi mind trick, is mind boggling.

The funniest part of this thread is it started out as a "you cant make xplane look nice thread" and morphed into a gallery where the only way you can tell which screenshot is from which sim is whether they have helicopters or not.

No wonder it turned into insults. 

welcome to the xplane subforum, have a read around a bit, its nice in here and ram packed with things that generally dont make you want to throw your computer out of the window or punch the first person you see.

I never adopted P3D as my previous system was not capable of running 4.0 or above smoothly.  When I had this new system built last August I took possession of it about three weeks before the release of MSFS.  I had to do something for three weeks <grin>.  So instead of investing in P3D or adopting XP in the meantime, and needing to learn new ways to configure, I installed FSX SE.  I had 48 USA Megascenery Earth states, a number of great addon aircraft from A2A, RealAir, Milviz, and three from Carenado/Alabeo, Reality XP GNS and GTN gauges, Active Sky 16, and REX Skyforce for textures.  For three weeks I flew as I had been flying, eagerly awaiting MSFS, and bypassing the two other sims.  For for the same reasons DJJose states above, I am logging still about 60-65% of my hours in an older sim expressly because of the kind of flying I do. 

Do I love MSFS for where it offers superior qualities.  Absolutely.  Do addons and mods add to the MSFS experience.  Absolutely.  And I fly in MSFS expressly to experience and enjoy those qualities.   Lower, slower, visual.  And beaming myself over to and enjoying parts of this world I cannot currently travel to in real life.

Do I still love FSX SE?  Absolutely.  With the contributions of the addons I mention above it still holds attributes superior to MSFS for the style of flying I do most often.  Long GA flights in highly modeled aircraft with accurate live conditions averaging a touch over two hours.

Let’s just agree to acknowledge this, MSFS without Azure scenery is dead on arrival.  That’s the main issue I have is the visuals are totally controlled by a corporation that keep breaking the sim with every update.  At least with other options you have more control of your simulator, they all just look like cartoons now...

I've been objective in my posts too - I've mentioned multiple times that X-Plane has the best flight dynamics engine among all civilian flight simulator games.

However, tone matters too. Intentional or not, your tone is quite harsh and it's not helping anything other than stirring threads and affecting X-Plane's image, given your ties with Laminar Research.

I have never said so. However, developers are respected people in the community and therefore expected to be more responsible - them joining the same heated hateful comparisons is making things worse.

The reverse is true. What has astonished me is the vitriol that the XP community has thrown at MSFS. Mostly from those with a vested interest. I think the thing now holding X-Plane back is it's Dear Leader whom all must worship. It's time for him to sell it and step down IMO.

Sorry but I have seen a lot of bashing towards both sides, and I'm frankly annoyed by both. Isn't it possible to like both? It's not mutually exclusive or anything. Regardless of which side bashed which, it is wrong. Maybe it's time to put an end to that and stop taking sides, huh?
