Strong sales of CRJ may lead holdout devs to prioritize MSFS

PMDG have been saying since long before release day that they'd be bringing their planes to MSFS.

Yes, but it's the timing.  For ages they have been moaning about how "incomplete" the SDK is and hedging their bets way into 2021 for getting anything out.  (Much to the glee of the in-house P3D trolls who took this as prime evidence of MSFS just being a "scenery simulator", natch.)

Then the CRJ comes out, everyone talks about nothing but for a while, and suddenly there's this sea change to "Everything we said is old news, things are peachy now and we're going to be working as hard as we can on it" when, in reality, the only notable change in the environment recently has been the release of the CRJ and its reception.

I don't blame them a bit, of course, it's a smart decision to make.  The timing in relation to other events just makes it funny, that's all.

in reality, not much has actually changed in the environment recently

I'm so glad you guys are part of the dev team now. It's what MSFS needed - guys with simming backgrounds. It would be awesome if you could contribute to getting some inertia into the game - not speaking metaphorcially. 😉

That doesn't go for word not allowed of course: they just hope that all other sims will never get close to their beloved MSFS. Which is, as everybody knows, the only sim - correction - the only piece of software, with no glitch or bug whatsoever.

I don't want to come off as rude here, but this sort of thing exists in every single debatable topic, and yes, there are XP players that believe the same thing. Might be fewer of them, but I have no numbers. But it's the same story with mac vs windows, xbox vs playstation, IOS vs android, etc. This is by no means MSFS specific, so saying it... well, doesn't really mean much, in the end

XP12 might indeed be an alternative. Especially if MSFS can't fix things like the mass-less beahvior of its planes. On the other hand, third party planes are now rolling in, improving flight dynamics and system simulation significantly.

IMO, to compete, XP 12 needs to have somewhat comparable graphics, and much more realistic default aircraft... and they might need to release sooner, rather than later, as MSFS development is quite rapid

Here's the PMDG wiki page. And you thought they made flight sim add-ons.

Randazzo's changed his appearance a bit. 🤣

Add to that GM versus Ford (both extremely similar, by world standards, variants of US Automobile) Catholic versus Protestant (both extremely similar, by world standards, variants of western Christianity)  Republican versus Democrat  (both extremely similar, by world standards, centrist US Political parties) or for that matter any combination of Basketball or Football teams anywhere in the world you can come up with.  In all cases the adherents of one view or the other will be indignant and angry if told there is very little differences in the competing views they argue over.

Exactly. It stands to reason, then, that Fs2020 and XP are currently among the most advanced and realistic consumer simulators ever made. Comparing them to each other magnifies the differences, zooming out shows just how similar they both are.

Flying with an Xbox controller is surprisingly good.

Talking to many devs daily, basically the consensus is as follow:

Plane comes out on simmarket=Good sales

Then it gets to the marketplace=Massive spike in sales

Then it somehow gets transfered to xbox when that comes out=Las Vegas Jackpot Sales

a massive increase in numbers is expected by pretty much all devs.

It is because humans are tribal by nature.

Hence XPlane adherent see MSFS as a threat that is "stealing" their developers who would otherwise work on XPlane addons and MSFS users see XPlane people as a threat who are always trying to denigrate and sabotage MSFS.   meanwhile PC users see Xbox as a "threat" that will lead to "dumbing down" of their hobby and Xbox users see PC flight simmers as elitist and a threat to a successful Xbox roll out.

Human nature.

I love the conspiracy theorists.

Seriously, people like PMDG, FSL etc. are businesses.

Do you really think that if they had what they needed to tap into the market now, they would hold back and not take advantage of a new revenue stream?

Too many people commenting are letting their prejudices get the better of them 🙄

What's really funny is there are glaring missing features in the CRJ (weather radar and terrain radar) because Aerosoft refused to write even a portion of the aircraft in JS/HTML so they could deliver features that other versions of the aircraft had and insisted on doing it 100% in WASM.

And now we have PMDG doing a 180 about face and saying "oh yeah the SDK is fine" when if they also insist on doing a 100% WASM aircraft, they will have the same limitations.

The only thing that makes this make sense is dollar signs.

Yeah, but if you use anything other than the STABLE version of A32NX, you have to download the new version at least once per day, so those numbers may be misleading.

I agree. You can split the one million and you'll still get a fairly large number.
