I find it comical these posts always seem to pop up after there has been a spell of good news for the sim.. lol

What are these good news that had triggered this thread 😉 😄 ?

No. 🙂

I agree with you. Not for the same reasons, I suspect that much, but we agree all the same  😄.

I’m still not sure how the Xbox is going to run msfs adequately, when 10900k and 3090’s struggle with it. I just don’t get it.......

Just like it does it with other games: aggressive dynamic resolution scaling.

Yep, I absolutely agree with that. So people now upset about the performance bug and start labeling it as game. Fun fact, MSFS is actually based on FSX which is in the game category and same goes for P3D based on FSX 😄.

There are two distinct issues I talk about in the opening post: one is the A/P bugs that are still there after 7 months and several patches. And it's not only the A320, also the G1000 bugs out and often provokes CTD when you try to set up an approach procedure.

The other issue is related to performance, which seems to degrade after every patch.

As for the category, the word "simulator" is in the name for a reason. It clearly has simulator ambitions and they are what I would love to see developed by Asobo.

I do not see this thread as the perennial "game vs sim" (I tend to avoid then now).

It is more about the worry we have to see the franchise going the wrong way. The dumb way.  There is a gap between what MS says and the reality of the product and its evolution since August last.

This, this is exactly the main theme of my post. The disappointment is generated by where the franchise is heading AND of course by the lack of net improvement patch after patch which is expected for any software.

On an unrelated note, Train Sim World is brilliant!  A lot of the routes and trains are from my neck of the woods (probably no coincidence with Dovetail Games being Kent based) and the detail of the modelling is exquisite. The newly released Southeastern Networker train is a particular favourite.

Is it ? What I remember is Asobo telling that they deboned FSX and decided not to keep much of it.

Nope the core is FSX, you can easily see that through Simconnect and its support for legacy simvars

That is the thing, I am confused about your opening thread 😅. Anyway for the autopilot, I think Asobo has given up on that and thus Microsoft hired Working Title to work on that aspect which I am pretty sure, they will fix and enhance most of these issues.

For the performance, definitely I agree with that.

They don't have to keep much to be considered based on it. They've kept what they considered good enough to start with. They would be crazy to keep a lot of things of a 2006 software, specially the graphical engine.

Thrustmaster TCA Sidestick Airbus // TCA Quadrant Airbus // TFRP T.Flight Rudder Pedals // Logitech Flight Multi Panel

I find it odd that users want study planes and the ultimate realism. But they want that for planes that they never could fly IRL.

If you want realism go with the single prop planes and "demand" that they are tweaked to the max.

Solution: turn off your fps counter, you'll be a much happier simmer.....

You don't need and fps counter to see that the sim is stuttering.

You don't need an fps counter to notice that you are down to 15 instead of the usual 30 - 40.

You don't need an fps counter to see scenery loading under your wheels.

If this never happens to you, very well. But please understand that it is NOT a psychological effect as you are implying. After a certain number of iterations, this kind of answer, even if you have the best intentions and are just trying to help, may sound like an insult.

This is what I understood from what they said then. They started from FSX but didn't keep much. "Based" would mean, for me, that it is still structurally close. And this is not only the graphic engine but I think they were speaking of the flight modeling architecture too. Now,I am no software specialist.

I’ve never flown a real aircraft - probably never will, so MSFS is a SIM to me, as it simulates flight in my mind.

it’s also a game.

anyone heard from Asobo btw?

Why odd ? This is what a PC sim is and has always been all about, allowing us experiences that we will never have in real life.  This is not a training tool.
