Envshade - Am I missing something ?

Recommended Posts

I have P3Dv5 and just bought Envshade. I dont use ASCA or REX. Now, whatever how I set the sliders in envshade, I do not notice any difference at all. I change the sliders, save the settings and reload shaders is P3D - nothing changes

Yeah I used to get that too - annoying. Something is wrong with the installation. Try re-installing as administrator and read their forums for help but support is slow. It is a layered install too. You need Envdir installed first before Envshade.

By "save the settings", do you mean saving the settings in Envdir or installing them to the simulator?  In Envdir, you need to click on "Install to Sim" button to inject the shaders into the simulator.

I click the 'install to sim' button in Envshade, not Envdir.  Also, I installed Enshade first, then Envdir. (both as admin) Tonight I will re-install again in different order and see if that  makes a difference. Keep you posted 🙂

Hi Willy,

once your installation is good, also make sure to assign a key combination within P3D to “reload shaders”, that way, once you made changes in the envshade UI, then hit the install button, followed by the newly created refresh key in P3D. That way you can see your changes without restarting the sim 😎

Cheers,

Pete

Re-installed and now seems to be ok, although the sliders seem to have only minimal effect. But I guess that was to be expected. Also assigned a key to reload shaders. Thanks all for helping.

Yes, unfortunately, the sliders have a narrow range of values it seems; hence, minimal effect for a few of the categories. You can manually adjust the shader files and override these values though, if desired.

I’d certainly be a fan of bigger slider ranges in future versions.
