CRJ VNAV AP

Recommended Posts

Can someone let me know if the VNAV function on the CRJ AP works and when / why I would use it instead of V/S?  Is it similar to VNAV in an Airbus and will follow the appropriate speed and altitude restrictions?  Thanks!

I watched a few but didn't see anything that was specific to the VNav portion of the AP.  I'll check this one out to see if they discuss it though

Actually, I must be going crazy.... I thought there was a VNAV button in the AP right under the V/S button but apparently I was seeing things... Disregard!

There was in the P3D version but not in the MSFS version. I think.

Read the manuals. You need to read the manuals to fly the jet. There is no VNAV- only advisory VNAV in the CRJ- as well as no real autothrottle. We get dots and range arcs to guide descent but the rest is up to the pilot.

Where can I locate the manuals?  I ordered via the marketplace but don't see where the manuals are on my PC

thanks.. Strangely, I don't have that folder in my community folder.  I only have the liveries.  Could it have gone to a different folder when I downloaded from the marketplace?

No youre not crazy! There is a vnav button on the mcp, but you have to select that option (coupled vnav) in the option menu in the efb first. When you select vnav on top of decent the autopilot wil automatically follow the decent profile only. Not the speed or any of the speed restrictions, the crj has no autothrottle you know 😉 It works pretty good, only when intercepting the ils glidescope and changing from vnav decent to approach mode  on the autopilot it sometimes doesn’t follwo the gildescope and starts a climb...

Zimmerbz, you are not going crazy.  By default in the MSFS Aerosoft CRJ 700, there is no VNAV button unless you go to the tablet on the left, go to options and select the coupled VNAV (not sure the exact terminology).  As soon as you do this, it appears.
