April 1, 20215 yr Guillaume Faury - CEO of Airbus SE - has announced plans to implement the new 'Audience Response Measuring Systems' - in all future A320 and A350 aircraft from 2021.What is essentially a Clap-o-meter - will detect and measure passenger applause after landing and give feedback to pilots in the form of points.Speaking to a gathering of Airbus technologists in Toulouse this Thursday, he expressed appreciation for their commitment to a project that has taken over five years to bring to production.Airbus Systems Chief Technologist Gabrielle Mansour filled in the details;"It is a great thing. We can finally enable those that fly the Airbus to gain a real insight in to their landing performances. Using an array of algorithms the software detects and measures the volume and duration of the passenger applause on landing and then compares that with the FDR to measure the V speed adherence, FPM, any cross winds and other factors and from the combined data produces a score out of ten which will be displayed on the PFD."A representative from ALPA was not available for comment.
