Saw this today on You Tube and gave it a try with good results in the war on FPS. Short video that makes a lot of sense.

Unless there's a complete failure of a new Nvidia driver installation, the methods shown in the video are completely unnecessary now.

Simply download the new driver package and once open, select "Custom (Advanced)" under "Installation options". On the next page, check only the "Graphics Driver" and "Perform a clean installation" boxes as shown below:

Never had a problem with a bad install and never have more than four Nvidia processes running in the background.

DDU hasn't been necessary for a very long time now.

nope, you will still have to DDU, the NVidia clean install will not delete any of the prior full package items or services.  I just did this twice on my system and confirmed.  Once I followed the fully video, it indeed was fully deleted and reinstalled driver only as shown.  I suggest to anyone who has installed the Nvidia full experience to do all the steps shown in this vid if you want to try this system tweak.

This just resets all settings to default, it has nothing to do with the installation of driver components.

Did you at least watch the whole video? I too have used clean and custom install before, but never did I get to decide what parts of the driver I would  download and load..

I am going to check this out today.  Yesterday I implemented the Lasso/core program to gain some fps, it definitely helped with stutters in large cities with a net fps gain.

In my experience I've found DDU to be barely worth the time using it in recent years, 5+years ago it had more of an effect but not now.

DDU is just part of the process.

Only use DDU when required i.e when the driver is totally borked. You certainly don’t want to be doing every update! 
 

Previous DDU versions have been a real headache and caused me to have to re-install windows. This was a while ago, but it’s just worth the risk.

Interesting, installed the Experience package and noted the files that were installed and running via TCP and correlated them with CC cleaner, 22 discreet components installed.  Then ran the uninstall via windows and rechecked via CC search, 7 discreet components remained.  I believe that DDU is needed to remove the remainder.  Could be just my system though.
