Problems quitting the game to the desktop!

Recommended Posts

After the patch, it takes several minutes before the game to shut down if I use the built-in "Back to Desktop", does anyone else have the same problem? I have started using Alt + F4 instead, is it safe to use?

My sim also freezes on the Quit menu from time to time.

I use task manager to close it

Mine doesn't seem to shut down cleanly most of the time, needs to be killed in task manager...

Same here, not very kosher to kill the program in task manager but huh! God and Microsoft will forgive us. 😉

Got the same last night, the game would not even return to the main menu.

In my case it turned out to be router issues causing an intermittent internet connection, but the game is far too reliant on an internet connection and the flaky Xbox Live service.

Just timed it: it takes 21 seconds from hitting the esc key to the sim shutting down.

I always use ALT and F4 as I find it rather annoying that we have to go back to the main menu just to quit the game.

I always just hit the X on the top right of the screen and it closes in one or two seconds.

Neither hitting Alt F4 or the x properly closes the sim.

That‘s why I always restart the computer before and after I fly. A bit superstitious I know, but that way I‘ve never had any weird issues (apart from the known ones).

I have no idea frankly, that is the way I ran P3D, so I just did the same with MSFS. What is the advantage of not doing that?

Have not tested to know if it makes any performance difference if that's what you mean...but...years ago it made a difference with fps, nowdays it's mostly just about personal preference so it's just more immersive in full screen (matter of opinion only, mind you)...but you also have to realize that when you run in a window that your game resolution will match your desktop resolution...which means you need to make sure that you run your desktop res at the same res that you'd like to play the game at.

I know that some folks will run their games at a higher res than their desktop...and in that case they need to run the game in full screen.
