Installing FSX on more than one machine?

Recommended Posts

Guest flightjunkie

I am contemplating getting a new rig to run FSX, but I don't really want to unless I am convinced that it doesn't run so well on my current computer. Can I install it on this computer, play with it, and decide to install it on a new computer without having to buy a new copy/license? Will it let me activate on two computers?

Thanks, that is great news. Now I can spend my weekend playing with FSX first before seeing if I need to spend money on another rig!

I am in the same position - but the 2 BIG questions are -- After having installed it on a second computer, can I ever reinstall it on that same computer if I ever need to? If yes, will any change to any of the hardware within the second computer invalidate the right to reinstall within that second computer?Barry

I had originally installed on two PC's and was fine 'till I used Acronis to clone my original Raptor 74Gb HDD to the 150Gb on the 2nd PC.First the 'phone activation refers to my activating a copy of XP Pro, not FSX, then the MS FSX 'phone activation lady who I eventually spoke to told me yesterday I had to uninstall from both PC's and then reinstall on just the one. I rang again to activate and although it worked I have no Multiplay item on the FSX Menu.See Q6 - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927007Ray

I see what TD says Jim but it sounds like the right hand doesn't know what the left hands doing. That statement is in direct conflict to what the activation dept. told me on Friday and what the updated (November) official Microsoft directive says now.Ray

If you are just trialing it on the second computer, just don't bother activating it. You get 30 mins play time a go, more than enough to see if the new system performs better or not.Gary
