Okavango Delta add-on

Recommended Posts

I've just purchased this add-on but I must say, I'm a bit disappointed. So far I have yet to find "animated" animals. I've found groups of elephants but they don't show any movements. Do I miss a setting or did I expect too much?

Try any one of their 2 missions, and you are likely to be stopped from immediate take off by a herd of elephants crossing the runway.

Around the Abu airstrip are at least 2 herds of elephants moving on, and one herd of giraffes. In other places I found groups of animals walking for a few hundred feet before magically being zipped back to where they had started off a few seconds ago.

But your impression is not altogether wrong. Most of the 12 000 animals seem to be static, even if lots are animated. Some of the buffaloes to the extend that they are wagging 2 tails.

Initially I was disappointed as you seem to be. But after doing some flying - especially in the helicopter - I found the scenery rewarding.

It is more a treasure hunt sort of thing. Most of the wildlife seems to be near water.

The animation is limited to stuff like tail wagging they do not walk around like the in game animals I had the impression that may change with an update at some future point.

Yes, I had a herd of elephants trotting over the runway during one of the legs, too. Others are static, though, so it's a mixed bag.

Unfortunately, the 2nd mission started at night which isn't really suited for VFR and animal watching, is it? I mailed to the support and they will look into it.

Kind regards, Michael

Used the provided installer, and it does appear in Custom Scenery. However, I see no evidence that it is actually loading into the scenery. Very disappointed in not finding any instruction file among the add-on's folders. Their website also lacks FAQs or other support.
