GTN freezing after about 35 minutes

Recommended Posts

re: https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/599100-my-gtn-750-is-not-working-anymore/?do=findComment&comment=4522524

Thank you so much. It worked for me also. Really appreciated.

I have just made a couple of GTN 750 installments for VC Cockpit Citation 500 and Cessna Grand Caravan and they work amazing. But...always there is a but...after about 35 minutes running simulation over xplane 11.53 it freezes and stucked xplane completly, It was need to shutdown via Task Manager and then CTD. What do you think could be happening?? Please advise.

My specs are: Intel i7/8700, 32 gigs RAM, Nvidia GTX 1060 6gb drivers until last update, SSD base 500 gigs / 4 tb sata disk main storage.

Running. Xplane v 11.53. No scenarios only default terrain.

Hi,

I'm glad you've sorted out re-installation problem and license authentication.

As for the other problem:

You might want to review the "Debug Settings" in the RXP GTN User's Manual p23, and add the following manually in your RealityXP.GTN.ini file in the folder of the aircraft you're flying*:

[GTN_750_1]
LogTrainer = 7
DebugValue = 1

Once done, the next time you'll fly and there is a CTD, the rxpGtnSim.dll.log file might have additional debugging information I'd like you to post in this discussion for analysis.

---

*NB: if you're using the GTN 650 or the GTN 750 Unit #2, put these under the appropriate section (for example [GTN_650_1] or [GTN_750_2]

Hello there,

I too experince a frozen XP11, although it usually takes somewhat longer than in Jerry's case.

This a C&P from the log:

I don't know if it matters at all, but it would appear that the incidents happen sooner in the Just Flight Piper Arrow III than in the modded BE58 (Double Trouble + 4K textures + GTN).

This log is from the latest flight in the Arrow III which I forgot to time, but maybe north of a couple of hours. I tried something new today. Started Cold and Dark, disengaged GTN in Plugin mamager, powered up (incl switching on the GNS530) and re enabled the GTN that then powered up after a moment.

Hi,

Thank you for the detailed log information. This is really helpful!

This indicates a problem when the trainer is accessing files, and I need to ask you a few questions as I try to pinpoint what could be the root cause.

Do you use the flight plan import folder?

If so, how many files do you have there, and what is the full path to the import folder?

Hello Good evening.

Thank you for your support and guidence on this issue. I have just did what you requested and found this...

21/04/26 23:54:05.858 12144 -    ] # rxpGtnSim64.dll version 2.5.28.0
21/04/26 23:54:05.857 12144 INFO ]

21/04/26 23:55:27.933 12144 INFO ] GTN 750.2 - TRAINER 6624
21/04/27 00:10:57.857 10908 INFO ] GTN 750.2 - TRAINER 6624
21/04/27 02:22:24.466 13872 INFO ] GTN 750.2 host application exited unexpectedly.
21/04/27 02:22:38.838 13872 INFO ] self-terminating orphaned GTN 750.2

Besides this, I have notice that Laminar owned airplanes (default) do not freeze at all (B58 was the tester).

The freezing problem for this test was the Airfoil Labs KA 350s with GTN750. This plane just suffer a complete transformation with GTN 750 dual integration is really amazing and works very smooth and great, you can go one give you follow up and tracking and another one to study and see charts. But after a while it freezes and Xplane just stays stucked with no response whatsoever...I have killed the process from the task manager and my Process Lasso tool.

I used Xplane v11.53 Sim and GTN trainer v 6624.

Please if you may have any clue of what is happening, I am pretty sure that this only occurs with custom complex payware airplanes.

I will be aware of your kind reply

Regards,

Hi, thank you for the additional feedback.

If this is working fine with default aircraft this means at least it shouldn't be something related to your system or your configuration. This seems consistent with the other report above which are all when using a non-default aircraft.

@Niels_C can you compare with a default aircraft too?

@Niels_C @Jerry Garcia Are you sure these aircraft are supporting XP11.53 ?

Yes Jean Luc, It Airfoil labs KA350 was bought from xplane store as 100% compatible. It is not a cheap airplane for sim xplane 11+

Today I will be making more testing with a Carenado Citation S550 to see what results...I will keep you posted...In the past it freezed for me also, lets see what happens now

Thanks again!

@Jerry Garcia I've just looked it up and their latest version is 1.5 released mid April.

A few customers are also reporting crashes on with XP11.53 Vulkan in this discussion:

https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/forums/topic/244427-ka-350-version-15-x-plane-11-1153-vulkan-crashes/

Especially the log.txt file from user FlightChecker is showing some error inherent to the aircraft itself and he doesn't have the RXP GTN.

Otherwise both FlightChecker and Dan48 log files have the same error:

[XJet] 2021-04-24 20:03:36,358 [WARN] KA350/LuaData – Dataref not found:SRS/X-Camera/integration/X-Camera_enabled
[XJet] 2021-04-24 20:03:36,363 [WARN] KA350/LuaData – Dataref not found:2

There is a visible problem with the logger strings ( – ) which might denote another problem underneath, and it looks like it is trying to access a dataref "2" which is telling me there is a bug of some sort in the code, which is using the string "2" instead of the actual string it is supposed to (unless they are expecting exactly this dataref name but this is highly unusual in the XPlane world).

Hello Jean Luc. Good afternoon. Thank you for your valuable comments

Yes indeed, I have version 1.5 latest update from Airfoil labs.

By other hand, in regards to just mentioned testing case for Carenado Citation S550, It worked really good. No problems at all.

21/04/27 16:10:41.562 01816 INFO ] GFX Debug: enabled.

Crash Report path is empty, no freeze, no crash.

Flight 2 hrs 45 mins. KDCA / KMSP. Route programmed at GTN 750 HORTO4 > BUFFR > J518 > IHD > J518 > DJB > J34 > VIO > KAMMA > KKILR3 > ILS 35 (APPR)

Interesting....what could be happening on the KA350. Maybe dual integration could be a problem? Please your opinion.

I am already happy with results of my beloved C 550.

Thank you for this additional report. This further indicate the problem could be specific to the KA350.

What would be interesting is you review the X-Plane log file the next time it CTD. In one of the log files I've linked above, there are traces of XJet exceptions for example.

I think there has been other form of XJet problems in past X-Plane versions but they did solve it since. Maybe this is a new issue with XP11.53 which will be solved shortly too? (IIRC XJet is their technology which allows them coding the gauges and systems in Java)
