Paris, France: City, Castles and Cathedrals

Recommended Posts

We explore the city of Paris with some of its attractions and the surrounding area.

We depart from Prunay (LFQA). We reach the city of Reims with the Cathedral. After about 30 miles we land at Courmelles (LFJS). 12 miles west we visit the Chateau de Pierrefonds and continue to our next landing at Glisy (LFAY). The next attraction is the city of Amiens with the Cathedral. We turn south and land at Tillé (LFOB). After another 32 miles, we land at Le Plessis-Belleville (LFPP). This stop is a good opportunity to change your settings in case you encounter problems before we head towards the very busy area of Paris. In case of problems we could switch to another, less frequented server.

We overfly the west part of the city and get a first look at Paris and some of its attractions. No need to deviate from the flight plan, we will be back downtown soon. The first POI of Paris is the Arche de la Défence. We will overfly the Chateau de Versailles with its gardens and land at Toussous-Le-Noble (LFPN).

versaillesffkyn.jpg

We leave the city of Paris for a detour to Chartres and the Cathedral. After a landing at Mondésir (LFOX) we head towards the next POI, the Chateau de Fontainebleau. After visiting the Chateau de Vaux-le-Vicomte we land at Villaroche (LFPM). We turn back towards Paris and land at the former International Airport Orly (LFPO). Now we are overflying downtown Paris with the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, the Grand Palais, the Cathedral Notre Dame de Paris and the Montmatre with the Cathedral Sacre Coer. We overfly a big stadium before we reach today's destination Le Bourget (LFPB)

The flight has 311 miles and 8 landings. A GA plane cruising with about 140 knots will be a good choice. I will be in the Just Flight Arrow III in a stock paint. Please fly what you like.

The flight plan and a pilots guide can be downloaded here.

Scenery: The POI are all part of the MSFS after WU IV.

Additional sceneries for MSFS are:

Wondering if people would like to announce their aircraft choices in the Google Sheet. (The page for Wednesday Flights is here.) If everyone is in an original default paint, then no problem. But it would be good to confirm this. Sometimes a pilot thinks that his paint is "stock" when it is merely a frequently-flown popular Attwood paint. (!)

Really Sir, I protest.

It could merely be a Jan Kees paint

I added the link in the first post as well.

Gremlins could "merely" get us unless we have an "Attwood" custom installed and if we did use one of these "Attwood's" then we would surely avoid any protest!!

So in that regard, I'll be using the latest "Attwood" custom as my "default" >> Presenting, as pictured below, the JF Arrow III (N808VT) for the Paris flight in which am hoping to be able to attend.

DL link to this "Attwood" art piece has been applied to the spreadsheet.

PS: Ball is in Asobo's court to fix this MP/model matching mess!! Tis a good thing that we have JoinFS to rescue the day in lieu of MSFS MP when it may be required).

I wonder if anyone suffering from this model/livery lookup problem can switch to "Generic multiplayer models" for the flight.. Have we tried that?

Why not? We've tried casting bones. Never know.

On reflection, there's a compelling logic to this suggestion. If MFS finds it difficult to locate and display add-on paints, which it clearly can't, let's make it easy for it. Just display paints it DOES know. We don't get to see anything other than what it feels 'will do' and may well be spared stutters.

In other words it is better NOT use your latest livery RON? Cause if ALL the attendees for this flight don't have it... or do have but don't have it installed it, (hence was the entire purpose of the spreadsheet), well then, oh my, we could all blow up!

So back to the drawing board for now, until such time that MP/Model matching issues in MSFS/Asobo are resolved.

Flying around Paris I noticed this interesting jet captured in the Paris photogrammetry.

I was just about caught up with you past the first airport when I lost power.  With regards to the stutters and the liveries, just fly default I since no one else is going to see the one you chose and we can't all be in separate ones.

With regards to the Paris scenery, I did some additional testing with caching a lot of the area at high and it improved my experience.  I was getting a lot of splotchy gray areas a little further away which would draw better as I got closer and went past.  Caching the scenery, I no longer see the melted photogrammetry buildings that then pop into focus and clear up.

I can confirm this from previous flights. For this flight, however, I no problems at all flying there by myself, and I didn't cache Paris. Next time I try the caching again.

Somehow the multiplayer environment seems more demanding when you have the group nearby.

Perhaps we should leave at five minute intervals. 😄
