Malay Peninsula  Pt 1 – Thailand Burma Malaysia

Malay Peninsula  Pt 1 – Thailand Burma Malaysia

This flight begins in Bangkok (VTBD) and proceeds south over the Gulf of Thailand to Hua Hin Aero (VTPH). The next leg to Myeik (VYME) is the first of five crisscross legs over the Malay Peninsula moving generally southward.  We will land at six airports on the Andaman Sea and three on the Gulf of Thailand.  If we make it to the last airport in the plan – Langkawi (WMKL) we will reach Malaysia.

FlightPlan and Pilots Guide:  Here

The route is 740 miles in length with 9 landings.  Something quick will be needed.   I will be flying the Aermacchi MB339 in the Royal Malaysian Air Force livery (a default paint).   If we are unable to finish the plan – no problemo.  Part 2 of the tour will start at whatever airport we stop at.

Make sure you wear your mask.  It is a 20000baht fine,  ($800).  The Prime Minister got fined 6000baht yesterday,.

For fun, one can compare the traffic, from the back-seat view of a motorcycle, in Bangkok and Saigon (start at 2:00 and not the whole thing). Fascinating in many ways to see the cities, the people, and the difference in car v. motorcycle density.
