Reinstall FSX- FS9 first?

Recommended Posts

I have just added a new HD to my PC and reinstalled WinXP onto a new RAID0 array. I have installed FSX, but forgot to install FS9 first. Does it matter which gets installed first? I don;t know if there are any common system files or not.Thanks- Bruce.

It doesn't matter Bruce. They can be installed in either order.Doug

Actually there is one thing that install order may affect: File type associations. AKA which Sim runs when you doubleclick a flight file in an Explorer window. As far as DLLs both programs use, FS9's installer shouldn't overwrite any newer files. Only thing I know of for sure that would be used by both (other then stuff that comes with Windows) is Direct X stuff. And Direct X's been version smart for a long time. :)"Let me help you out.
