They really should model a pilot.

Anyway, the aircraft is great fun to fly!

They can't hardly muck up a tiny little VFR plane hopefully.

So it was a very wise choice considering the sate of IFR flying.

MS releasing an ultralight as their first payware is going to really get up the nose of the " ... we elite gamers only fly study level airliners and unless we get every airbus ever made at study level right down to the snacks in the galley, I am not buying this product" brigade

To be honest it is somewhat hard to see how you could get a study level version of a one off home-built//experimental as every single one will fly different.

My only complaint here is that the stock aircraft that came with the sim have many duplicated aircraft "types", and I'd rather have had an Ultralight be part of the Standard sim then having so many similar GA aircraft.  Along with some vintage thing, and maybe one simple jet trainer.  FSX and XP11 both have a much better variety in the stock aircraft, which can then provide the basis for mods.

Yeah, they seemed to have tried to cover all possible combos in the default GA of single/twin piston/turbo-prop, flaps/no-flaps, RG/fixed-gear, CSU/fixed-prop, wheeled/amphibious, aerobatic (and not)  and then added a few popular fan favourites to boot like the Cessna's and the Cirrus resulting in quiet a few similar planes with very minor differences - but left out things like ultralights and a vintage radial.

For those that bought it, a few videos please?

There's a video review on my channel I have just uploaded.

It's a good, fun aeroplane which you can chuck about a fair bit, and in so far as something as basic as a part 103 aeroplane could be made into a 'study sim' (TM), it is in the sense that it closely matches the performance of the real thing fairly closely in terms of roll rate, stall speed, cruise speed etc.

What would be interesting to see, is the Ruckus variant with 'all the options'. The Ruckus is the same airframe as the Solo 103, but with no requirement to maintain the 254lb weight limit to qualify as a 103 aeroplane, a Ruckus with all the options could have more extensive avionics, a Rotax 582 engine, uprated brakes, optional tundra tires, slats, flaperons and can have a ballistic recovery chute fitted too. Strictly speaking, the Solo 103 can have a ballistic recovery chute as well and still be an FAA Part 103 aeroplane, since even though it takes it over the normal weight limit, is a safety feature and so it is allowed.

Anyway, if you want to see my review video, it's here.

Anyone on Steam been successful in purchasing this aircraft? I keep coming up with the “Pending Purchase” notification and then nothing for ages, Steam Overlay is on but it’s not finalising.

Posted to another thread on the official forum, but that was moved to the Bugs section to be voted upon #sigh

Saitek X45 HOTAS - Saitek Pro Rudder Pedals - Logitech Flight Yoke - Homemade 3 Button & 8-directional Joystick Box, SNES Controller (used as a Button Box - Additional USB Numpad (used as a Button Box)

Just a note that it seems to show up in the marketplace as a "bundle" rather than in the aircraft subsection.

The ultralight in the aircraft section is the Nemeth Designs pusher 103 ultralight, NOT this Asobo designed one.

Make sure you are buying the right thing.

Yeah it’s bizarre as I don’t know what it’s bundled with.

I searched under Asobo as the developer to find it.

An amazing UltraLite. Spent a 2 hr. flight in it just exploring.

There are some problems with low and Slow (no fault to the aircraft though). Tree density (not draw distance) way to high, tree heights way to high (some over 200ft.) and photogrammetry making some thing (many things) look like a war zone (poor River Street).

All in all though, you can't go wrong with this bird.

It's a fun thing, very nice model this one, the engine looks awesome but when it comes to 'flying' I prefer the https://secure.simmarket.com/v.g.p.-powersolo-msfs.phtml

Has a bit more power and comes with a floats model, it also has the ability to trim.  It may not be true to life but I would be flying the Asobo ultralight a lot more if it had that feature as well as it's really nice to have particularly if you want to just enjoy the scenery while hands off the controls.

Nice vid Chock.

Thanks

My favorite activity with this plane is skyline surfing. Take it to a big city and skim the skyline. Looking down in-between skyscrapers. It's so slow and stable you don't have to worry about "looking away" from the controls

I had the same issue when I tried to make my first purchase from the in-game marketplace.  To fix it, I had to set up a payment method within my steam account, and make sure steam overlay is enabled in steam settings.  Do that and then restart sim and try your purchase again.  This worked for me.
