FlyInside Bell 47G for MSFS released

I would love to be able to afford to learn to fly them 🙂

Maybe once I retire 😉

If you can swing at least $250 an hour or around $15,000, you can get a Private License. Then you will find getting someone to rent you one as a low time pilot, is really not easy.

Yep, the H135 feels heavily stabilised though and there were occasions, especially with torque rotor where I felt I was fighting the helo's sytems not aerodynamics.

Best on lift off, easy with collective and get ready with left rudder  to keep nose straight. Once up , then forward cyclic, and rudder for straight ahead. Piece of cake once you get the feel for it. One thing lacking in these Helis is a piece of twine on the windscreen.

How would you compare operating to the H135 which also has three flight models? (Yes, I understand, it's a completely different  type, but still.)

Kind regards, Michael

Dunno, I've not tried that 135

A couple of commercial Heli pilots with much time in the real life Heli, have said it is pretty realistic with a good flight model. That was enough for me. I am really surprised it is not payware. I sent them some money when I downloaded it. Well worth it.

It can be compared if you run the Bell on 'Easy' mode. which of course is nowhere near realistic. Plus: one cannot compare the two helis at all: the Bell 47 was the first commercial helicopter, the Airbus H135 has all the latest tech that actively stabilises it.

The model is so-so (when compared to the detail and textures of most of the default MSFS aircraft), the sounds are pretty good and overall, YES, it does feel like a helicopter. The ability to drag the sliders to where you want them makes this entirely feasible for everyone. New to helicopters, set 'Easy' mode (which is absurdly easy), then as you wrap your head around the magic of flying helicopters start dragging those sliders to the other side.

It's a lot of fun. You won't fly around the world (it's s-l-o-w) but it's great for short VFR hops and will certainly teach you a few things about helicopters. 👍

Happy to answer any questions on our Bell 47 if anyone has any ?

Tony

Nice work on this !

Couple of questions though - any chance of a turn/slip indicator in the form of a bit of wool/string/whatever stuck to the outside of the canopy ?

And now you look to have a functional custom helicopter flight dynamics module, where are you look to go next both with the Bell47 and with other modules.

My VA allows Helicopter flights, so I am on my 5th flight now in the H 135. Great view as I fly along/  KRDU to KEWN.

Yeah, I understand it is good, but I think the real thing is fugly lol. They land all the time over the road from my house because the cops and the air ambulance use them a lot in the UK.

We can try to add the string out front, not sure how hard that would be but will definitely look into it...We have a small Hangar full that we plan to get into MSFS2020 whilst constantly updating the Bell 47 and personally i look to improve my modelling and painting skills 🙂

Dan Church is the main guru behind all the code and the flight model was done by a real world heli pilot with over 2500hrs in his own 47....we have many future plans but unable to share at the momemt 😉

As did I. I still need to practice but given enough time I might be able to master it. I'll despite buy the Bell, it looks so sweet, but I know those tiny choppers are harder to fly.

Kind regards, Michael

When I first started flying RC copters, I had a RC pilot that helped me, and he used to demo RC copters. I practiced hovering for literally weeks before I felt comfortable hovering nose in and side views. You make one mistake, and that thing comes at you, and you better duck or pray. Those 60 size engines and long blades make a Lethal  weapon. To see what it is like, launch a Heli in MSFS, get in front of it so are looking at the nose, and try hovering.
