The virus can be spread by touch and having been vaccinated does not mean you won't touch something and collect the virus to put elsewhere, and is not 100% guarantee you won't become ill from the virus even if vaccinated. I've seen far too many people ignoring the very simple rules and they will never know if they caused a death or illness in another by that poor behavior. I'll continue to wear a mask and use the sanitisers, and wash when I get home just in case. It's not 100% perfect but it's better than no precautions.

How can I spread something I haven't got? I haven't been out of the house for a week before I went shopping today. When Tesco start wiping down the credit card payment machine between customers that's when I'll revert to using the sanitisers. I've used common sense for the past 14 months and survived so I don't need any advice on how to conduct myself thank you.

Well, if you think you cannot spread something you have not got, then clearly you actually do need advice on how to conduct yourself.

The virus can live on hard surface for several days, so you can touch something and then pass it on to another surface and so on. Thus anything we can do to reduce the possibility of transferring stuff is of benefit, and whilst it is no guarantee of things, I can guarantee you that not using the sanitiser is definitely not going to help matters.

If everyone entering the store uses the sanitiser, then it matters a bit less if the credit card machine is not wiped down (and it is incidentally, every UK store has been doing that for months). It's not about just you and your vaccination, it's about everyone else and consideration for their well-being, including people for whom the vaccine might not work so well on. Collectively, we can do our bit to help matters, and if you are not doing that, well I'm sorry if you don't like me saying so, but that is just not a very sensible, considerate or helpful way to conduct yourself and you should know better.

No, I don't need advice from you or anyone else. The simple fact I have avoided this virus is because I used common sense for fourteen months. You know nothing about what I've had to give up.

The fact I decided not to cleanse my hands for the first time today was based on the scientific numbers that shows the probability of catching or passing the virus on is now negligible.

Here in the U.S. for the second year in a row the annual "Dayton Hamvention" that should have been this weekend was cancelled. Actually, it was cancelled back in mid-February because of the uncertainty about the condition of the world regarding Covid-19.

For starters, it costs the sponsoring amateur radio club at least $2 million to rent the Xenia Fairgrounds for the four day weekend, printing tickets, arranging for electric scooters, renting > 600 golf carts, et cetera.

Average attendance at Hamvention has been around a half-million over the past ten years, with over 40% of them from overseas. Vendor's logistical costs can run well into the tens of thousands of dollars, depending on their travel distance. Shoot, it cost me just over a thousand dollars each year I worked as a volunteer as one of the golf cart pilots!

So yeah, it's pretty disappointing but fully understandable they decided to cancel the event this year!
