Blurry ground textures - P3D5.1.12.26829

Recommended Posts

For the very beginning i am sorry to open such topic again, but truly i have searched answer and solution for last couple of days and i am done.

My ground textures looks like taken from FS9.

I think i have tried everything - FFTF from 0.1 until 0.6, P3D all settings changed from my default to minimum, NVIDIA settings as widely recommended.

Whatever i did i see zero effect - blurry as hell !

My test flights are done with default slow prop plane.

Yes, i have ORBX regions

I have GeForce1660 6GB

Frames are locked on 30, sim is butter smooth.

Help please 🙏

Have you tried to delete your prepar3d.cfg and let it generate a new one?  You would be amazed how many issues this fixes.

What is your CPU load during flight when textures are blurry?  (I don't mean the overall load, but the load on each core). Can you make a screenshot of it?

Usually blurry ground textures is an indication of processing power not keeping up with the scenery.

Used to see it a lot on FSX where is you paused the sim and wait it would eventually catchup and the ground textures would become crisp.

Does the same happen for yourself? i.e. does pausing the sim allow the ground textures to catchup?

I have also had the odd occasion where P3D has glitched and no matter what the scenery has remained blurry, however a reboot has always resolved.

So it used to be alright ?

And has only just started to occur ?

CPU/GPU fans and coolers all working and clear for dust etc. ?

Ryzen 5800X clocked to 4.7 Ghz (SMT off), 32 GB ram, Samsung 1 x 1 TB NVMe 970, 2 x 1 TB SSD 850 Pro raided, Asus Tuf 3080Ti

P3D 4.5.14, Orbx Global, Vector and more, lotsa planes too.

CPU avg. load is around 15% ( cores from 0 to 4 ) have 5 cores, no HT

Using Process Lasso for cores assigning

Memory ( 16GB ) - 36% memory load.

Sorry cannot post pictures, but load is mainly on core 0 - roughly about 40%, other cores are lightly loaded - maybe 10%

My system:

Intel i5-9600K @ 4.0GHz

16GB of RAM

1660 / 6Gb of RAM

Resolution 2560x1440 ( native )

Isn't there an option for Hires ground textures in version 4?

@micstatic is right, for temporary testing purposes you will want to disable PL.

With only 5 cores you are likely going to have to make compromises to avoid blurry terrain.  With 5 cores I would allow P3D to use all of them (i.e. no masking) and the only core assigning I'd do would be 3rd party apps off core0 and possibly core1 (i.e. Pilot2ATC, Chaseplane, etc. or whatever you use) but for testing, I'd not use any masking.  Get the sim un-blurry first before even considering moving apps to cores.

I have noticed since updating latest nvidia drivers and windows update since yesterday in some areas I am getting slow loading textures and a little blurred.

I’ve deleted cfg and rebuild settings are the same etc etc.

I’ll have to go back to a couple of drivers prior where I was before and text.

I have found source of my problems - after recent BIOS update some CPU and Memory parameters were set up not as desired, especially memory was not under XMP profile - instead 3200 was 2400.

When i set all parameters as high as i need them to be everything is fine, sim is smooth and crisp as much as can be.

Thank u all for suggestions and will to help, appreciate

Wow, that's great.  I guess it goes to show the importance of memory speed.
