Real world weather not representative of local conditions.

Anyone not noticed the missing visibility settings in the sim? Aerosol density is completely missing from live weather. Its either cavok or clouds on the ground situation. Humidity parameters are not present in the sim to depict low visibility and haze. Is the weather engine not getting this info from Meteoblue ? I have seen multiple threads on this on the official forum aswell but no answer from the devs. Even FSX had visibility sliders. Besides this aerosol mumbo jumbo should be get rid off. There is no such thing as aerosol density in aviation. The phenomenon is knows as visibility to pilots.

Live weather does inject visibility into the sim environment. I have verified this by monitoring the simconnect variable AMBIENT VISIBILITY when Live Weather is active, using the simvar watch utility from the SDK, and it definitely varies. The problem is that the only internal settable function in the sim for visibility is “aerosol density”, which does not directly correspond to visibility expressed in units of miles/km or yards/meters. Aerosol density does not go “thick enough” to produce true low visibility conditions.

The sim can simulate fog, but only by putting a cloud layer on the ground. Sometimes it looks convincing but other times not...

It's possible the tower decided not to cut the special...or they just augmented the conditions back to the previous report because they were too lazy ha.

Anyway that's pretty minor compared to what people are worried about with the ATIS being off.

If there is any rainy or cloudy conditions in Arizona it's never depicted.  It could be pouring down rain with low ceilings or thunderstorms and it will depict 2 layers of thin stratus clouds. There was a slow moving band of heavy showers 70 miles wide a week ago. I thought surely MSFS will depict a line of persistent rain that stretches from Utah all the way down to Mexico.   But no... no rain just high clouds. METARS didn't match either.  Now I would excuse this as teething but Active Sky could always depict weather correctly or at least close enough in P3D.  Usually Active Sky overdid the weather a bit but it was accurate enough.

I also don't get what is going on with the weird artifacts between the cloud layers. They look like dark rain shafts but if you fly under them nothing happens and I don't understand why they are being depicted or what is triggering them.  I hadn't seen them before the last update.

Here is an example of el paso texas at 9:30 PM.  There should be rain and storms but the sky is perfectly clear and the metars dont match at all.  (And yes I switched to daytime so you could actually see there are no clouds in the sky, it was the correct time when i spawned in and I reloaded live weather twice)  It just does not depict systems smaller than a couple hundred miles in size.
