Hasn't this been thought of before?  What's the holdup?  Seems like an excellent idea to me.

Better have the pushback tug standing by anyhow. These things usually end up being more trouble than they're worth.

A report from last September says they have back orders with 26 airlines for 2200 units and are just waiting for FAA certification.

Maybe also electric robots to run quicker security checks for passenger boarding. In order to streamline the ridiculously slow process we have now compared to the bygone era when most passengers looked forward to a flight.
