British Airways 747-8i Gatwick to Schiphol

Featured Replies

The 747 is not the best airliner in MSFS. It's got lots of bugs and shortcomings, and VNAV can be a nightmare. When things fall into place however, it's great fun to fly. I usually disconnect both AP and AT around 1000' AGL to get a feel for the airplane before landing. Also I'm using the Salty Simulations 747-8 Mod which can be found here: https://github.com/saltysimulations/salty-747

The awesome 747 City of London livery is available here https://flightsim.to/file/5030/boeing-747-8-british-airways-city-of-london

Not to forget - there is an absolutely awesome freeware version of Gatwick that IMO is better than most payware airports. It can be found here https://flightsim.to/file/2774/gatwick-airport-egkk

Wonderful series...plane and scenery...Gatwick, indeed, looks marvelous...! Thanks for sharing...!

Very nice and very low (for a 747-8). Hopefully all the little bugs will be dealt with.

Trevor

Thanks. I flew the ILS 36R approach to EHAM. There’s a short stretch, maybe 3-4nm flying level before intercepting the glide slope at 2000ft. I kept the speed up and didn’t go gear down until just before capturing the glide slope.

It is actually an interesting approach, especially in a 747. The approach requires you to overfly EHAM, fly outbound roughly opposite to rwy direction, then at 8nm do a course reversal (teardrop turn) whilst descending from 3000ft.

That really gets busy flying the 747 single-handed. Great fun though!
