We couldn't move Microsoft Flight Simulator

Recommended Posts

I can't move my MSFS installation from my C SSD drive to a new dedicated D SSD drive using Apps & Features in Settings and I'm getting "We couldn't move Microsoft Flight Simulator the operation did not complete successfully. Try again in a bit. The error code is 0x80073d0b, in case you need it."

BTW the new empty SSD drive is NTFS formatted and working properly. Not sure is this topic must be here or in another place, please help.

Thanks,

Alexander Colka

Apparently the NtfsDisableEncryption. registry entry is related.

You need to stop the encryption service and set the registry entry to "0" .

The Move leads to problems..

hmm  ...

There was a main forum thread on moving it manually, worth a look at least

https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/move-msfs2020-to-new-drive/250773/10

Saw the whole thread, thanks again for pointing it out, yet to try that one. Don't get it why the normal procedure of moving the app from the settings wont work, I'm not so comfortably with many files leftovers in drive C if I do that procedure manually.

I'm considering ultimately in doing this. What problems did you encounter?

I did a systems restore at some point, and the App was no longer connected... nothing I tried worked, and a reinstall was the only way out.

When you do a Move, a number of links are created that subsequently can break.. at least they did in my case.

On my initial install I let it default. Changed my mind and did the move. No issues then or since. I have heard of some where the move option is not available also.
