Anyone who has ever watched a Roland Emmerich film knows catastrophic extinction-level asteroids always hit picturesque recognisable landmarks. Avoid these and you will be in no danger. Similarly, this is why a basic knowledge of the action sequence rules of Michael Bay's movies can help you to remain safe, in the UK for example, if you avoid anywhere which has a Red Double Decker Routemaster Bus, an Austin FX4 Black Cab and a red public telephone box all right next to one another, you know you will never be caught up in a terrorist incident.

So in their scenario, NASA should be aware that no asteroid would ever land on somewhere as cinematically mundane as the German/Czech Republic border. No, no, no, it'd take the top off that massive Zizkov antenna in Prague, come across the Charles Bridge at low level as a couple who were putting one of those cack padlocks on the bridge look up in horror, then it'd decapitate that big equestrian statue up at the top of Wenceslas square, plough over the road into the National Museum and finish up as a big napalm-esque fireball. Alternatively, it could come screaming over Berlin as two punks listening to some music on a ghetto-blaster next to the remnants of the Berlin wall look up at it, then leave a big trail of fire along the Unter Den Linden, passing over a beige Mercedes 230 taxi, reflecting in the windscreen of it as the driver looks up in amazement, then it'd smash through the Brandenburg Gate, and finally it would make the Reichstag building explode in the requisite napalm-esque fireball. 

At some point in the sequence of events, a dog which you are convinced is going to be killed, will leap into some safe location which saves it from destruction as the city is destroyed behind it. This is how disasters like this really work, everyone knows that. NASA experts lol, yeah right.
