Hey,

Just got the FMS extension and did my first flight in it. Seems like a great addition to already great plane.

Couple of quick questions from the quick flight I did:

a) No display range control for the digital HSI? Seems like it's by defualt set to 50nm and cannot be changed. Makes very hard to read out MAP mode in terminal areas. Did I miss something (manual doesn't mention it) or is it going to be added in later updates?

b) Is it just me or is the FMS treating all waytpoints as fly-over instead of fly-by? Autopilot seems to initiate turns quite late and overshoting the planned route. More testing to follow.

Thanks for the hard work! Great stuff.

The map display on the HSI has range settings of 5, 12.5, 25, 50, 100 and 150 NMs (distance from the a/c symbol to the blue arc). You should be able to cycle through these ranges by successive clicking on the MAP button on the controller. I just tried this again to confirm.

The waypoint fly-by vs fly-over issue was pointed out to the fellow doing the FMS coding a while ago. Hopefully this will be fixed in the final version of the FMS.

Thanks a bunch, I had to miss it and couldn't find anything regarding "range" in the manual. All the best!

Page 8 of the FSW UNS-1 manual (ver 1.7) has this:

2. Select the display from standard HSI to ARC or MAP. Continue to press the map key to cycle the view distance
up to 150 nautical miles.

Easy to miss!   😉

I have just purchased and installed this FMS on P3Dv5.2 HF1.

A couple of questions:

Q1: The FMS startup screen shows FMC VER 001.P3. Is this the latest? - if not where can I get the latest version?

Q2: The system also shows "NAV DATABASE EXPIRED" "09-SEP-21". I have a NAVIGRAPH subscription and have added "Flysimware Learjet 35A" to the update list and it is at "2108 rev 1". How do I update this AIRAC?

Q3: The help file I have is V1.7 - is this the latest?

Q4: Are there any instructions to load a Simbrief or other flight plan into the FMS?

Q5: Is there a list of control codes or local variables that can be used to program Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo units?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Allan

I have worked out answers to my Q4.

Also, I note in the Flysimware\Navdata the cycle_info.txt shows:

AIRAC cycle    : 2108
Version        : 1
Valid (from/to): 12/AUG/2021 - 09/SEP/2021

So not sure why the expired message - any suggestions?

Q1 that is the navigraph version. If you sign up and purchase you can install the latest. But i would wait as this is a beta and from what i heard we will be including the latest on final release.

Q2 Go to the sims main directory then locate the  Flysimware folder then in the navdata folder update those files you get. I thought this was in the user manual.

Q3 I need to update the product page as V1.7 is correct.

Q5 No we did not code this product and many of the function do not actually have Lvars.

Thanks for the quick response.

Q2 above: I have searched the manual and can find no reference to this. Can you please explain what info is to be added to the navdata folder.

I find various references in this forum to FMS versions and updates.

How do I find the version I have?

Where do I find updates?

If you go to the Win10 Control Panel > Programs and Features, there is a column with version numbers. Look for the Flysimware Learjet 35A Expansion Pack entry.

The version # is also part of the Expansion Pack installer exe file name, e.g., currently FLYSIMWARE_LEARJET_35A_FMS_Beta_V1.4.exe.

Since you bought the FMS from the Flysimware store, you get updates by downloading a new installer when it is available. You typically get an email from FSW when an update is in the store.

I have never personally updated myself. I remember the coder told me the new files replace the old ones in the folder i mentioned. Should be that simple as there are no other options. Hope this helps.

-Sorry i updated Q2-

Go to the sims main directory then locate the  Flysimware folder then in the navdata folder update those files you get. I thought this was in the user manual.

Also you can download the manager from Navigraph and it will locate the L35.

Also we are on the list from Navigraph confirming updates will work for our product.

If you have the Navigraph FMS Manager scan your computer, it should find the Lear35A as shown below. You can than select the Lear for a Navigraph AIRAC update.

Thanks for all the replies.

I believe I have carried out these steps but still see "NAV DATABASE EXPIRED" "09-SEP-21" in yellow while my date is shown as 21-AUG-21.

Is it possible to enter gps coordinates into the fms? So far I have tried both 6115N and 61N015W, but neither seem to be accepted as waypoints.
