The OTHER Mars landing attempt

Recommended Posts

...and has successfully landed.

Wikipedia is so quick:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Mars_landers

The Soviet Union, and later Russia, has had a remarkably poor run on Mars.
Actually, everyone except the US has failed miserably up to now.

It's a remarkable achievement on your first shot: Orbiter, lander, rover.
And it took a selfie on the way, with a tiny camera jettisoned just for that purpose:

The Chinese totally get the PR side of space exploration.

I don't know what all the fuss is about. Landing on Mars is dead easy:

Nothing like national prestige to drive a programme... it's how Apollo got to the moon.
Here's how Zhurong compares to Perseverance:

Curiosity is my favourite Rover, if there can really be such a thing: just going about its business.

A few days ago NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) snapped a dramatic image of the Curiosity rover climbing Mont Mercou, a terrene near the centre of Gale Crater.
