Savage Carbon and Grravel updated...

Recommended Posts

Yes you saw it right...  Grravel!

For anyone who hasn't tried these customised bush aircraft yet, they are from a very committed developer, and they are a blast to fly!

They have now had their flight dynamics tweaked for things such as adverse yaw and flap deployment behaviour etc.  Many other tweaks.  Really worth a try - they certainly put a smile on my face.

Call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind, but I prefer Rob.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

These look like fun.  Are they "realistic" (in the sense of being similar to customized real bush planes), or more like "fantasy" planes?

These are modeled on real "enthusiast" bushplanes..

Ton of fun!

Is it only me that now has problems to trim it to hold altitude?

I have noticed the same.  I have no idea if this is realistic or not.  Regardless, these aircraft are a blast to fly and anyone who doesn't try them out is missing out.

You are right, I also like to fly them. And if the somewhat difficult trim is resembling the real thing then I'll happily take it for that.

No.  I have found it to be more busy on the trim.

Strangely, the Grravel seems to pull more nose down with power, so I actually have to trim up when adding power, then trim down when I back off.

It is counter-intuitive to what you normally have to do, but for all I know it may be correct for this aircraft.  I do feel like going back to the previous version though - it felt better to fly somehow.

I will check flightsim.to for comments later, but might comment myself about it anyway.

This great plane has been updated again, with the help of Carl.

>

Superior flight model compared to any previous Savage Grravel version. A big thanks goes out to cavaricooper for lending his expertise as a professional test pilot for the ongoing Grravel project. Get ready for the most authentic bush plane experience in a sim ever!

- Execute STOL landings with pinpoint accuracy
- Wheel dust and water effects added (try water skiing!)
- Further improved shock absorbers ... you'll love the driving!
- Further improved ground handling ... and I mean improved
- Updated default livery with solar panels (hey, Scrappy has it, Grravel gets it)
- Accurately calculated drag for the 35" AB's
- Accurate flap behavior
- Revised moments of inertia
- New livery "Bash" ... a yellow "Dash"
- Fixed magnetos (broken by SU5)

That's right, but it normally follows soon afterwards.

She's updated now... and an absolute joy to fly.  Within the current limitations of the sim, she's about as good as one can get.  There is definitely room for improvement, however, that will take some updating on @Asobo's part. Meanwhile, @GotGravel has done an absolutely bang up job getting her to current levels of perfection.  With all this talk about the Aviat release I thought you may want to get your copy of this one FREE at-

I am enjoying her so much, I haven't bothered with the Husky...

I think she's grand, albeit with a bias 😉
