May 23, 20215 yr I wish to mention, here, that this CRJ is powered by two Collins FMS-4200 Flight Management Computers (see screenshots). With the SIM package, there is a very readable/usable 68-page (standalone) FMS Documentation available. FMSs are powerful avionics components, providing navigational guidance, and many other performance computations etc. I am also using it here to track to the highest peaks of the Apennines range, without guesswork,...🙂... BTW, of historical interest: "Boston-born Willard Rockwell (1888–1978) made his fortune with the invention and successful launch of a new bearing system for truck axles in 1919....In 1973, Rockwell acquired Collins Radio, a major avionics supplier to become Rockwell Collins". I noticed, today, "Rockwell Collins" imprint on the HGS unit (e.g. in a couple of OH images of my Part I post), and, "Collins" written just above each FMC in the flightdeck (e.g. in a few images below). So, I pick up, and wrap up, here, from where I'd left off, in my previous (Part I) post on the Apennines. Referring to the ND data of the first shot below, at the starting point, I'm 10nm past LL01 WPT (Monte Vettore), and (3nm from) approaching LL02 WPT (Monte Gorzano) mountains of the Apennines range (northeast of Rome). Past the (last) LL06 (custom) WPT (notice the (green) Advisory-Only "TOD" marker in one of the ND shots), I've then tracked, southward, straight to LICA (Lamezia Terme) Airport to capture ILS Rwy 28 (see shots), keeping clear of the surrounding (3,000-5,000) feet mountains close within 10 nms of this Airport. The city is located on the instep of the Shoe-shaped Italy, and is known for its beautiful coastlines and mountains... Hope you enjoy this set of images....! Good flying...!! May 23, 20215 yr Great set of shots mate! It's crazy how the HUD makes piloting so much easier. 🙂Â
