P3Dv5.2 Info

Recommended Posts

As most probably are aware, P3Dv5.2 has been released with lots of changes/updates.

FYI:

1.Updates are available for the RXP GTN750/650 and GNS530.

2. Updates are available for the Flight1 GTN750/650. If is worth noting that Flight1 has announced that their GTN750/650 and GNS GPSs will no longer be sold after the end of this month, and support will end at the end of the year.  Also note RXP has a sale on their GT750/650 until the end of the month.

3. An update is available for Active Sky.

4. FSUIPC does not require an update.

5. The current version of FFTF Dynamic P3Dv5 seems to work in that it loads at least. [Update]. Developer now says an update will be available next week.

6. Track IR works.

7. I have found the current version of the Milviz weather radar causes a CTD, so I assume an updated is needed. However, I have not been able to locate any info directly from Milviz on this. If you also find you get a CTD when using this addon, go into the P3Dv5.2 gauges folder and rename the MV_WX.dll file ( e.g., xMV_WX.dll) to disable it. Restart P3Dv5.2 and you should be able to load your a/c although the WX radar will not work, of course.

EDIT:  Milviz WX now seems to work with P3Dv5.2 (but not yet with the HF1 for P3Dv5.2)

Please post in this thread info on other P3Dv5.2 addons that you are using (or trying to use) with Flysimware a/c.

FSPS says that an updated v5.2 compatible version of FFTF Dynamic is coming next week.  The current version doesn't crash v5.2, but then it doesn't do anything for the new sim either.

Did you try the Milviz WX radar with EA and/or volumetric clouds on or off?  AFAIK it has never worked with EA/volumetric clouds.

 Bob,

My P3Dv5.2 install crashes with the Milviz WX Radar enabled and EA Off. I don't recall if I tried the WX Radar in P3Dv5.1 with EA on.

Well that's interesting, precip aside, because I can't even get an a/c with the Milviz radar installed to load into the P3Dv5.2 sim. Thanks for the info.

It would be helpful to hear from other FSW/P3Dv5.2 users with the Milviz radar installed.

I had to doublecheck this after about your problem loading. I tested this in the fsw lj35a. The plane spawned with no problem in clear weather. the mv radar unit turned on and self test functioned wo problem. So I headed for thunderstorm activity in non-ea mode. I cant use ea volumetric mode because my gpu crashes when precip hits the plane. Its been that way since v5.0. Upon arrival of the storm the mv radar did not crash the sim but I also got no returrns on the radar unit . But what made this flight exceptional was the discovery of ea mode with volumemetric turned off. Flying at Dusk into the storm was the most beautiful skies Ive ever seen in p3d. The lightning colors, contrast of colors in the clouds, varieties, the llight show was just amaziing. So the mv radar does not function, looks good but thats about it.

I just tried the Milviz WX radar in P3Dv5.2 again and now it seems to work -- with or without EA on! I was just on the runway but the radar did pick up some returns, mostly ground clutter I assume. I have no idea why I was getting CTDs before. Will do some more testing tomorrow.

[Update]  The Milviz WX radar continues to work in P3Dv5.2 both with EA on and off. I don't know why I was getting the CTDs yesterday.  Still would like to hear what others are getting wrt the WX radar in P3Dv5.2.

Latest (11July'21) AVSIM P3D Forum post from Milviz on the WX Radar that is in the panel of many FSW aircraft:

Quote

In order to make the WX work properly in P3D, P3D/REX and P3D/ASN, we had to use hooks.  When LM recompiled that area, we had to redo those hooks. In some cases, it was easier than others.  Sometimes, it wasn’t easy at all.

When LM made the update/change to EA, it totally broke the way the WXR worked.  So, we now have no choice but to redo it IF we decide to move ahead.  That decision has yet to be made.

For MSFS, we do not have access to the base code for the WXR so we can’t mod it to our “needs”. This is just one of the many things that are not (yet) possible in that sim.

We are porting some our stuff to v5.2 but, again, this isn’t a promise and we don’t have a timeline.

I will add that, at this time, we are no longer developing for P3D except as it pertains to milsim projects.
