Did all of the above incuding the deletetion of the hlsl  folder.

still about 15-20 fps less.

2. deleting shaders and.cfg , some say you need to delete the HLSL shaders as well, i did not do that.

so no

You definitely need an Affinity Mask setting with HT enabled. Look back a couple of pages to see how it’s done based on your CPU.

My suggestion is free. I use SimStarterNG for the other programs but you may prefer PL. But sort out the AM ASAP.

Just dont use HT, i have tried it but it is running way better without over the last 15 years or so

With p3d i have nerver !!!! done any editing to the.cfg. It runs much better without doing that and without HT. It is all about the cpu speed and not the threads. So higher clock speeds is better , HT off is the key in my humble opinion

CPU is currently 52-70C and GPU 66C.

With HT on I have 28 and a lot of heat extra. Now it is like yours.

The PC was professionally built by Chillblast. I’ve had it since Oct 2018.

I don’t understand your post. 28°C is room temperature.

Maybe AMD processor work differently to Intel. If you have HT on, try turning it off.

Can you post the AM entry in the cfg and also a screenshot of Task Manager - Performance tab.

I copied the am you suggested earlier in this thread for a 5950x.

I send a picture of the Performance tab today after work.

With HT off it has the same temp range as you have with it on.

With HT on I have too much heat because of the many cores I have and to avoid that I need to downclock too much, so the benefit of HT then is gone.

I have a 240 EKWB cooling system with push and pull fans (2 extra fans, so 4 in total))…

Is this fairly easy to do?

I've downloaded and installed it but not sure how to go about this.

Task manager at the moment show core 0 at 100% and thats in v 5.1 but thats with absolutely no tweaks and no affinity mask and with hyperthreading still enabled

Amd is a little differnt to INTEL, i have booth Intel and AMD up and running

with a 3090 a run locked 60HZ with affinity to the fastet core use 9cores for p3d.the only diff 60 vs 30 is that gpu usage go from around 30% to 60% and the cpu usage is up to approx 90%.

i run 4K

30HZ AM

60HZ AM

the reason i run P3D at 60hz is i run MSFS2020 at vsync 60 and locked 30 , 60/30 there ai get 85-95% GPU usage , no need to do ant changes in NV controlpanel when run the Sims.

easy explination of how Ryzen 9 work in P3D V5.2: as you see the usage is high on core6 thats my fastest core, i set up win10 with Ryzen RHP power plan.

then set affinnity to the first fastest core and use AMD PBO , the cpu sets the clock dynamic in this senario core 1-5 and 13-16 have a clock of 3,6ghz core 6,8,9 have a clock of 4,9 to 5.05ghz dynamic the rest beetwen 3.9 to 4.6ghz.

as you know the AMD have atleast 18% higher ipc then a 10900k 8% higer then the new 11900k thats the reason it run 60HZ in P3D V5.2 its equal to a 6ghz 9900k.

conclution : tune AMD for P3D is not easy but you get it right it rocks paired with a 3090.

My Harware: AMD 5950X , ram 32gb 4x16gb Amd runs better with 4 sticks, ram speed 3600mhz c15 1t synced infinity fabric 1800mhz.

You all realise you can adjust the affinity (select which cores/threads you want any application to use) on the fly by using task manager right?

much easier to troubleshoot and compare results that way - no need to do binary conversions…….

Pretty sure you can set it to only run on certain cores/threads via the executables properties too. Is that any different to using affinity mask setting and messing around with the CFG?

I tried that when my AM entry wasn’t working because of a typo. All cores were selected so I changed it to 0 2 4 6 8 10 but for whatever reason it had no effect.

I tend to agree.

Ever since P3D v5.0 - maybe even before, can't remember - I've not used any AM, running with HT Off. Not yet updated to 5.2, I'll wait for the Hotfix (or should that be LukeWarmFix) 😉

In my case I9 9900K CPU is delidded and directly cooled on the die, with HT On @5.2GHz under full load temps never exceed 70C. The easiest AM with HT On is the one that renders all second LPs of each core to 0 for Prepar3D.exe. This makes Prepar3D.exe see no difference in HT ON/OFF on the CPU with a possible/ additional benefit of faster executing of some purely Windows processes while higher temps indicate more work is being done by CPU. I move all my flight sim related apps to the left Cores/LPs (in binary sense).

PS: please note that my 01.01.01.01.01.01.01.01 affinity gives Prepar3D.exe 8 full cores, as if HT were OFF.
