Is there any plan to add the ability to add Airways to a flight plan? My thought is that LMN already knows that a Waypoint is a part of Airways e.g. POL - Pole Hill. This waypoint has at least 10 Airways passing through it. So could I right click on POL and get a choice to Join Airway XXnnn. This would highlight the Airway and pop up a list of Waypoints for that Airway and you could then select one of these and select Exit and then Add to Route. Or something along those lines. I assume their might be a flaw in my idea but its an idea for whatever it may or may not be worth.

I think it depends on format you want to export to, in the most of formats it works now 😄
For example, I fly under XP11 - when flight plan is exported to new FMS format it's possible to get airways, when to old FMS3 format it's impossible to get airways in FP (they are not supported by FMS3).
You can check the formats' possibilities in manual section 36.2, here: https://www.littlenavmap.org/manuals/littlenavmap/release/2.6/en/FLIGHTPLANFMT.html

And of course it's necessary to switch off default feature "Export airways as waypoints" - under LNM->File->Export options  🙂

Piotr

Sorry, no manual flight planning along airways yet. This is on the list for a future version.

You can calculate plans between selected waypoints in the flight plan table which is closest to a manual plan: https://www.littlenavmap.org/manuals/littlenavmap/release/2.6/en/ROUTECALC.html#calculate-for-selection-in-flight-plan-table

Or you can use the route description for planning by entering a string like KPWA ATOKA J25 FUZ J33 CRIED J50 LFK KHOU
https://www.littlenavmap.org/manuals/littlenavmap/release/2.6/en/ROUTEDESCR.html

Thanks Alex, not the answer I was hoping for 😞 but at least it is on the list😊. I am aware of both those options. But sometimes the "Calculate Flight Plan" option can take you on a "detour" (and yes I also am aware of the Airways - Direct slider options). The "Read from Route Description" option can be difficult to read, especially in crowded airspaces which is why I like Navigraph Charts ability to highlight the Airways entire path so that you can see where it goes from - to and can easily see where you might plan your Entry/Exit. This also means having to use two separate pieces of software.

I do LOVE your program and really appreciate your efforts so I will await with patience.😁

Hi John, LNM might also send you on a detour if no proper airways are available. Means: If cruise altitude does not fit to airway restrictions. Choosing a bit lower or higher cruise can remove the detour.

Are there any news on this ?

Or I might simply missing what I need to do.

I have chose departure and arrival airports and their procedures.

I can click on an airway in the map with right click and show its information but how to add that airway to the route ?

You can add waypoints to the route or calculate between waypoints. Here is more information about the flight plan calculation:

No need to build a flight plan manually, IMO.
