I had to force it, to click the download updates button even though it wasnt listed. Then it refreshed and found it.

In the store, it doesnt pop up automatically. You have to search for it in the full catalogue. Just filter on free and wu 5 is there.

Seems quite a few in same boat, myself included. Tried all the steps

Search for flight sim in the store. Next to the Play button click the ... next to Play and see if you get an update option. That's what I had to do.

In the Steam 'version' the generic WU download  was 5.2  GB and the Nordics download was 3.5 GB.

You actually have to search for the update in the Marketplace, it was not on the "front page", and I only found it after sorting through it.

Yep, same here.
I didn't have any issue with previous WU, installation was smooth and quick.

OK but did you download the new version on the Store (or Steam) as usual prior to search the update in the Marketplace?
Our problem is that there is no update on the Store.

indeed, this must be some kind of server issue but even trying to trick the windows store to a different server doesnt work so I am stumped 

No fix for the vanishing Splash Screen in this update I see.

For all those who have forgotten the process , there are two main downloads : 

- the first one is compulsory and the access page should be triggered automatically when you fire up the sim (Steam)

- the  second one is optional and is to be found in the »market place » in « bundles ». You buy it and then download it,

There are also some minor optional patches in the content manager.

There was no update on the Store for me either, but I went to the ... dots in the right upper corner, clicked Downloads and Updates, then Get Updates. First it found a couple of unrelated updates, then it suddenly found the Microsoft Flight Simulator one, and downloaded and installed it. I think maybe there's just a lot of traffic right now. 

Just a heads up.

After downloading the MS store update, and then the WU patch for the game client, then going to the ingame store and getting the free nordics update, THEN I had to download several individual packs for airports and bushtrips for the nordics.

1st one is triggered by the microsoft store actually! 2nd is sim, 3rd is the WU content
