TVB questions

I'm new to FSX, and I'm curious if there's a utility such as TVB (Traffic View Board) for FSX or if the original for FS9 will work the same in FSX. Also, does FSX provide something similar itself?

If you install the SDK you can access Traffic Explorer that as all the same info as the old TVB. Still, its not as convienent and I'd prefer to use TVB. I actually would have thought it would reasonably easy for some kind soul to convert the FS9 one, but I'm not a programmer...

Mine is a standalone program. Which would be more preferable?

I prefer it as stand alone.I use it in FS9 to watch AI traffic, follow and switch between different plane, listen to the communications between different planes and ATC, etc. I find that I can enjoy sitting at a Airport listening and following all the different planes filing their flight plans, getting clearance to land, to take off, etc.

Hi. The TVB does work with FSX as well as the Mobile Control Tower. The TVB has trouble reading the FSX Traffic though. Regards, Bob.

It's pretty much unusable in FSX. As you mentioned, the display of traffic is one fault. It's unable to stay locked exactly to an aircarft so you get a constant jerky image as the aircraft tries to break away from the TVB and then snaps back. It's a shame, because this was my favorite part of FS, using the TVB to spot and follow comms.

Don't think so Thomas. TVB works by linking an invisible user aircraft with the AI aircraft you are currently following. This invisible aircraft keeps your views (spot, tower, etc.) aimed at the AI aircraft.Trying to use TVB in FSX, it appears that the AI craft your are following and the invisible user craft are not synced exactly together, giving the jerky motion as the AI craft tried to break away from the user craft and the user craft snaps back to the AI craft.
