P3Dv5.2 Hotfix 1 Now Available

If I am reading this right you had P3D v5.1 (with hotfix1) and went straight to P3D v5.2 hotfix1 without having P3D v5.2 installed? If that is the case then that is what is most likely causing your troubles. You need P3D v5.2 installed before you install the P3D v5.2 with hotfix1.

Hi

you are reading this correct and that is exactly what I did which led to no textures on the building I had also taken the delete the cloud file as instructed.  When I noted no textures I ran the other option which basically resets P3D .  Still no building textures.

After synchronizing Orbx with no joy re getting textures back,  I uninstalled the 5.2 hf1 client installed the 5.1 hf1 client and the building textures comeback.also the default aircraft cockpit had textures, however I then fired up a PMDG aircraft, to find no cockpit textures and many exterior textures missing. Same with Carenado  aircraft my A2A add-ons seem to have vanished, but this may be due to the link as advised by someone above and I an not sure how to reset the link?

Best wishes

Bob

Bob,

As I understand it you currently have v5.2 HF1 installed. This was installed on a v5.1 HF2 installation.

That being the case I would suggest you first download the full installer for v5.2HF2. Then uninstall as follows via Control Panel. Don't forget to choose No when asked if you want to deactivate your licence.

  • v5 Scenery
  • v5 Content
  • v5 Client

That should remove all installed components for v5 giving you a clear run to install the full package. Good luck!

Hi Ray

Thanks I will have some breakfast, it's early morning NZ time then give this a try.

I suspect a typo there from Ray, I'm sure he means v5.2HF1

Have done a complete clean uninstall and re-install with this new version, and the FPS is absolutely awful.

12 FPS flying the Maule in Utah.

I'll put everything back to default again for my next flight and start from there again.

Did you delete the cfg, shaders folders, and the volumetric clouds? Uninstall alone won’t make those go away

Hi Ray and others who provided advise

It worked, I uninstalled all 3 as Ray advised, reinstalled from the full download and P3D has the textures back both buildings and aircraft cockpits.

I feel like I have dodged a bullet.

I now need to reconfigure my controllers etc because I used the Delete Generated Files as advised, but this is minimal compared to a full install of the many add-ons  which all appear to be in place and working.

If indeed this was caused by going directly from P3D V5.1 HF1 to P3DV5.2 HF1 without using P3D V5.2 I have to think that there was insufficient warning from LM not go this route.

Best wishes and a big thanks to all who provided excellent advice.

Bob

Bob, it’s bedtime for me but I’m pleased it went well. Look in MyDocuments\P3Dv5Addons and I suspect you’ll see all your addons still there.

If that’s the case then download Lorby’s Addon Organizer and it has a feature to generate the required files for each Addon entry. He has a sub forum here in AvSim should you have any questions.

Ray,

I always thought that Client should be removed first, then Content, and finally Scenery.  Does it make a difference?

Stan,

Given we install client first followed by the other two I used the reverse logic for uninstalling. The last to go should be client in my eyes. Not sure how much difference it makes but LM should be explicit if they haven't stated the sequence.

I see your logic, Ray.  Probably right.
