How can I activate FSX?

Recommended Posts

Guest whitespiral

Hey guys.I installed FSX on my new machine and didn't realize I hadn't activated it. However, it's only after a week that I get limited to 30min of play-how can this be? Shouldn't it have done this from the start? This leads me to believe that I did in fact activate. Anyway, I was looking at a way to activate it now, after I have installed and am running it. I much prefer this to the reinstall option for obvious reasons-mainly addons. Your help appreciated.

The first time you started it after you installed it, it should come and ask ya to register. You may have missed it?Well. Try to go to your install directory and see if u can find any register thing. If not, try to put the DVDs into the drive and see if there's kinda menu. ---------------------------------------Kasper BehrentzsDenmarkhttp://img410.imageshack.us/img410/4853/bannerigifru8.gifALL NEWS FROM FSX COLLECTED AT ONE PLACE!MY SITE, http://www.xflightx.piczo.com

According to the ReadMe in the main FSX folder, the Activation Wizard will appear every time you start Flight Simulator X until you activate the product. Until you activate Flight Simulator X, you can only use the product for 30 minutes each session. If you don't see the activation wizard, you're activated. Hope this helps.Best regards,Jim

Thanks Firehawk. I did always think I was registered...It might be a bug, but it appeared suddenly after days of normal ops-that's the weird thing.I'm trying to see what else I can do besides reinstall. Repair installation won't work either. It finds a glitch at the last part of the process.

Surely we are not that far into Addon mania yet? There wouldn't be too many to reinstall? Certainly not like FS9.ps sorry for calling you Shirley.

Hmm - your Software license store may have become corrupt. try resetting it by downloading the Software Licensing System Reset Tool from Microsoft - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928080. If this is indeed the problem, and the tool clears it up, you should then find that you get the activation UI when you start FSX, and can then re-activate FSX, either via the Internet (if connected) or by 'phone.Hope this helps - Happy (30min+) flying! :>)- Skydrift
