Well Done England ! ⚽️

Featured Replies

Those of you in the US or those of you that don't like football won't care. But well done to the England Football Team for reaching the final of Euro 2020. One year late due to a certain pandemic of course.

This is our first final in a major tournament since we won the Word Cup in 66.

Of course, anything can happen in a final, so I won't be disappointed if the Italians beat us. Great that we simply got to the final.

Sunday's final will be quite an occasion.

Congrats!  Would have preferred Denmark tbh. Not to mention that really questionable penalty (on overtime in a quarter final - one would think that more physical play would be ok then).  However England was the better team overall that is for sure so the win was deserved in the end.

Ah, well.. Sweden got their behinds handed to them anyways. As per usual.

Actually I thought Denmark's freekick that led to their goal was dodgy too. So I guess we got payback. But then our penalty was checked by VAR and deemed lawful.

Sorry to see Sweden failing. You finished third in the World Cup in 94 which is good going?

You are probably right about Denmarks free kick (however the goal was beautiful! Almost fell out of my chair when he scored).

Yeah, we are still happy about that "1994 miracle"

I am not happy that some England fans were apparently "booing" when the Danish national anthem was being played. Anyone caught doing that should be ejected from the stadium without a second thought.

As for the match, I was on edge right up until the final few seconds. I think that England deserved to win, and I am not worried about whether anyone thinks that we were lucky or not. England have suffered some pretty significant bad luck over the past 30+ years in major championships, so it was nice to see the windsock swing our way for a change.

Looking forward to the game against Italy, although I get the feeling that offices and work sites are going to look rather empty on Monday morning!!

Yes it was a superbly well taken freekick. I think our goalkeeper lost sight of it due to the wall.

Booing rival national anthems happens at nearly every international match in the calendar.  It's not something I'd do or approve of but I can only guess why it's been picked out in this case,  If those who booed were thrown out, Scotland wouldn't have had a single supporter left after they booed the British national anthem at the game at Wembley in this very competition.  I don't remember EUFA taking a stand on that.

Yes, shame about the booing. There are always some idiots in the stadium unfortunately.

I was on WhatsApp to my son in the UK at the time and we were both emotionally drained at the end. 😁

Without a doubt we deserved to win. Some of our play was excellent. And that Sinclair guy is a phenomenal player. We need to stop letting Kane take penalties though. He was really jammy getting the rebound, his penalty was garbage.  🤨

I don't really fear Italy to be honest, they are good in attack but I reckon their defence is suspect at times. I think they are beatable. Anything can happen in a final though, very unpredictable.

Yeah, its unfortunate but we shouldn't take it too seriously. Society is getting too sensitive these days.

Congrats, @martin-w! I didn't watch the game, since we're busy down here with the Copa América (also postponed a year because of...you know what), but I know the feeling 😉

Although I can say I cheated: nothing is so weird as watching your two teams in the semis (see my flags in signature). My friends were joking me that, whatever the result would be, my team was already in the final. This weekend will be very interesting with both Euro and Copa América finals.

Oh don't worry, when we face you guys in the World Cup we will no doubt be out classed, like we are against most South American teams. I think footballing genius is is your genes.

Hahaha, I'm not so sure: last World Cup England made us Colombians suffer the whole round-of-16 match, extra time and penalty shoot-out included. Then I had a beer with a Brit that as on exchange here in Córdoba hehehe.

Argentina, well, I can't remember any match with England during the Messi/Kane era...

You all know that Sterling dove, right?  I can't believe VAR upheld the pen.

However, it did make up for the no-call penalty when Kane was taken down in the second half.

England did deserve to win, as they dominated after the first half.  They had Denmark gassed in all of Extra Time.

it did though. So they must have seen something we didn't. VAR should be better than our eyes. 😁

The only one that England fans remember is the infamous "Hand of God" match. Daylight robbery.
