Buying MSFS Deluxe on Marketplace not visible

Featured Replies

Hi,

I recently had seen that you can upgrade your msfs inside the marketplace. Unfortunately I cannot find this option anymore, can you remember under which category we were able to find this option in the marketplace?

It's still not online, but I think this is a lucky situation for me.

I just have read, that if you have a game pass and buy msfs on the marketplace this license is linked to the game pass subscription. It that correct that I would need to have a active game pass subscription to use msfs deluxe premium that I have bought via the marketplace?

This scenerio would have been pretty stupid for me, because I don't want to use the game pass for ever. I just have one for now (1$) and wanted to buy the sim.

Can you just tell me, if I shouldn't buy msfs from the marketplace with a gamepass subscription or not?

Does not matter if you game a gamepass subscription. because when you unsubscribe then you will still have those addon premium planes, airports in the game.

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

Whoever wrote this was wrong.

If you *buy* MSFS on the MS Store ( regardless if you had a Game Pass subscription active or not ), it's yours forever, because it comes with a "Digital Ownership", which means you can keep the game even if you don't renew your Game pass sub.

And, if you buy MSFS with an active Game Pass sub, you can buy it at some discount so, it might be best buying it now, while your sub is still active.

Allright, that makes totally sense, however you're relating this when I buy it on the MS Store. The source (not english) that I had read claims that when you buy it on the marketplace on your active subscription I would always need an active subscription to use msfs deluxe premium. That kind of would make sense, since as far as I know when buying on the marketplace it's even more discounted than in the MS Store.

No, the discounted price doesn't mean you won't keep the game if you cancel the subscription, it's just a further incentive to keep the subscription, and all games are discounted for Game pass members.

They keyword here is BUY. If you BUY something on the MS Store while you have a Game pass sub active, you bought it, and it's yours to keep forever, and you are getting a discount too.

If you just INSTALL a game, which you are allowed to because you have a Game pass subscription then you must keep the subscription active to be able to use it, and it will stop working if you cancel your sub.

No, if I understand correctly, it's the opposide when buying via Marketplace: Just check these resouces: I just could not find anything that confirms that when I buy it via MS Store through a active game pass subscription that I could use the sim further the expedition of the game pass subscription.

That's an entirely different issue, which is buying the Deluxe UPGRADE from the in-game Marketplace, when your license for the Standard version came ONLY because you were a Game Pass subscriber, not because you bought it.

If you are interested in the Deluxe or Premium versions, you should buy them as Full products, not "upgrades" to your "free" Standard version you got from your active Gamepass subscription because, if you cancel the subscription, you will be left out with no license for the Standard version, so the upgrades DLC won't work as well, since they require ownership of the Standard version.

It's easy to get confused because, BOTH have a discount, which might look similar, but one is the discount "because you are a Game pass member", and the other it's a discount "because it's an upgrade".

That's why I said the thing to look for is the Digital Ownership, which is an item included only in:

- The Standard version.

- The Deluxe FULL version ( not the "upgrade" you can buy from the integrated Marketplace )

- The Deluxe Premium FULL version ( not the "upgrade" you can buy from the integrated Marketplace )

This means, if you are interested in any of the Premium versions, it's way better to purchase them as FULL versions, while your Game pass sub is still active, because it's cheaper than buying the Standard version first and upgrade next AND you get a discount because you are a member AND you can keep them forever.

Buying the Standard version and then the upgrade to Premium will still work, it will just be more expensive, but you will still be able to keep them if you cancel Game pass.

What you shouldn't do if you plan to cancel Game Pass , is to DOWNLOAD the Standard version and buy any of the Premium versions as upgrades in the MS Marketplace and then cancel Game Pass. If you do that, you'll have to buy the Standard you only had because you were a subscriber, but never bought it.

Of course, there's another scenario, which is if you plan to KEEP Game Pass for the foreseeable future, for example if you are also an Xbox gamer, or you have kids who play lots of games on Xbox, it might be cheaper to just buy the Premium upgrades, and never buy the Standard version.

Allright, now it starts making sense. I already use the standard version with the gamepass, so I haven't bought anything yet. That is correct. Can you just confirm that I don't do anything wrong if I proceed to buy the Premium Deluxe this way: so I will have a discount with the gamepass but owning the full game and still be able to use it when my subsciptions ends?

Yes, that's the Premium Deluxe FULL version, which is discounted because you are still a Game pass member. I see you are looking at it from the Xbox app, which doesn't make very clear it comes with the "Digital Onwership".

If you check the page on the Microsoft Store application instead, and search for MSFS Premium Deluxe there, you'll see in the description it's a bundle containing all the following:

- Microsoft Flight Simulator

- Flight Simulator Deluxe Upgrade

- Flight Simulator Deluxe Premium Upgrade

Digital Ownership

Digital Ownership indicates you can keep the product regardless of the state of your Game pass subscription.

It looks like the Marketplace is back to normal now.
