This game can brick your card claimed! Amazon New World!

Recommended Posts

I should add, this is a new issue that's been observed. More information will no doubt surface in the comming days. Including veracity of the claims, which cards are affected and how common the issue.

So far it looks like high end cards like the EVGA 3090.

Buildzoid looked at this issue and had some interesting opinions.

He seems to think that yes, the game could generate power demand spikes, but Nvidia don't seem to implement OCP properly. The components are there on the board but not fully configured.

Speculation on his part but an interesting perspective.

The game was created by crypto miners to put fear into gamers so they don’t buy these GPUs and make more available for crypto 😉

Interesting idea, but that wouldn’t explain why it’s killing AMD GPUs also.

My guess is bad VRMs sourced from the same manufacturer that AMD and nVidia both use.  The push to get more GPUs out the door to meet demand, along with COVID impact, has had a negative effect on quality control.

Cheers, Rob

The leaks are from early engineering samples, so hopefully performance, including power draw will improve further.

Be careful people, if you have this game. Aparently it's still bricking cards. And not just 30 series and not just EVGA.
