Orbx London City Flat Zone

Recommended Posts

Hi all

So I went ahead and purchased Orbx London City as I felt the default MS city was too dark & grey - and it was on sale.

Overall I am pleased with it and the contrast in colours is good - but I have a strange issue.

When I have the scenery on - and with photogrammetry on, I get an area just north of docklands and canary wharf that is totally flat. The photos show images of warehouses and small houses but its totally flat, bar some tidy looking gas storage frames

If I turn the Orbx scenery off, the same area now has 3d buildings are warehouses.

Please can someone confirm that they are getting the same result? Just so I am sure it is indeed the orbx scenery causing this

It will be a major disappointment if it is the case, as I dont know why they have chosen to flatten the area rather than just leave it as default.

I want to leave the Orbx scenery on but this area just sticks out as you head into London which really breaks the immersion...

What happens if you fly the area with Photogrammetry off?  I have found the MS servers to be unreliable in the last few days..

I noticed this too after reinstalling it recently. There are huge flat stretches and these stretches also flicker. I presume they've ballsed up with their exclusions.

It's always been a rather unlucky mod. Looks like it's continuing.

This sounds like an issue I had - the offending mod was a Thames Water fix which came out just after release to flatten water around Canary Wharf.  Have a look for this and remove it from community folder.

I remember ORBX saying they were aware of this and a fix was supposed to have come out... However I have not flown in this area since first day release of the scenery to test it out. I would be very surprised to see it has yet to be fixed by now. I'm sure someone else will chime in shortly.

I had an issue with Orbx London City pack regarding flat areas. To fix I went into Orbx Central, found the pack I had installed, clicked on configure (just above the red uninstall button) and selected the option 'WITH UK world update installed".

All was fine after that. If you purchased from the Flight sim store I wouldn't know how to access that option though.
