OPIS, Islamabad, to OAIX, Bagram - Part 1, Pakistan

Featured Replies

I got a copy of OPIS ( https://secure.simmarket.com/simarc-islamabad-international-airport-opis-msfs.phtml )some time ago, but have only just gotten round to exploring in that region. A supplies trip to Bagram seemed like a good idea, so that's what we've got here. I've split this in to two parts, as there are a lot of pix, and that's because I figure this is probably a region that doesn't get visited much by most folk and it is well worth a visit. First part is out from OPIS and west as far as the border with Afghanistan, around the Khyber Pass.

Here we are at OPIS, Islamabad Intl -

If you look closely, or have a large screen, you can just about see me in the distance, taxi-ing out to the runway

Plenty of interesting stuff away to the east as well. And as an aside, the Pakistani coast looks interesting as well - plenty of exploring to do around here yet.

This is the Virtavia C-17 that I ported over. I have the UKMil version with the 747 cockpit (from .to) for actual flying and recording these trips as that has working gauges, but I prefer this version for the replays. It does have a really nicely modelled cockpit, but unfortunately none of it works. But it's great for screenshots -

Fascinating glimpse of Pakistan.

Great shots indeed. I did the Karachi-Lahore run in the 1980s twice a year. But that was in a PIA 707 at FL300, so we didn't see too much of the world below us. Of course they didn't serve alcohol on board, so we always made sure to have a flask with Scotch with us. We then asked for Coke and poured from our flask into the coke glass. 🙂

Any attempt to stretch fuel is guaranteed to increase headwinds

My specs: AMD Radeon RX6700XT, AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, 32GB RAM, 34" monitor, screen resolution: 2560x1080

Great shots Pakistan and other areas well under represented in MSFS2020.
