I guess you will be disappointed .....

CTD's all time and frozen Sim are not typical for MSFS. Try to solve your problems before the next update. It might be heavy workload and painful. Start the simple way and empty your community folder first and deinstall all addons, or make a fresh installation from MSFS. Check your PC - RAM test / GPU test / OC?/ Windows updates and drivers eg. and do not forget your devices (yoke, quadrant ....).

In 1 year MSFS I've had 2 CTD's so far. One caused by an addon, the other by a broken cable from my yoystick. The last one tooks a while to find out !

Good luck and best regards

Thank you.  I have complete those steps multiple times with the exception of a fresh reinstall of MSFS.  I did last week perform an MSFS "Reset" which seemed essentially like a reinstall.  It has been very frustrating.

As mentioned earlier, I use the Addons Linker and for my most recent flights no addon has been added to more than one flight. For instance today I was in the 172 classic in Oregon with the pms430 GNS mod.  Yesterday I was in the Baron G36 in Wisconsin with the WTG1000 mod.  Again, no addons or mods shared between those flights.  The only payware that resides in my Community folder is the drzewieckidesign-washingtonlandmarks package, which based on local should not have been an issue.

I now monitor my system's RAM and GPU memory utilization as well as CPU and GPU temps and do not see any cause there.  I manage my MSFS graphics settings carefully to that end.

Come to think of it - there is NOTHING but better visuals that MSFS has on X-Plane, really.

Here comes troll #1.

What is it with you guys? This thread has absolutely nothing to with Xplane.

Ignore these guys they are obvious trolls (bad ones at that)  and want no parts of MSFS. Let them vanish in the 1900's

They be dead holding their little digital (blade element theory) junk while MS will sell millions of so called game theory.

@fppilot MSFS "Reset" is not like a reinstall. Bite the dust and make a clean install MSFS.

Test MSFS "clean" first, before you go further - I mean long flight and only A to B and no procedures and clear sky. If possible with a simple joystick first (without any driver needed) and don't connect your rig. Check latest versions for GNS amd WT mod, esp. PMS50 ....

I7 10700K - sounds like OC? Check your BIOS and reset all to standard - no OC. Check RAM settings in BIOS. According to the specs? Should (could) be CL 16-19-19-39 for your GSkills ... The MSI Z490 can be a bit "picky" with the timing.

I make always a copy from the last stable running version before !!! I update to the new WU/SU for MSFS .... Not the first time MS Store denied or something els goes wrong ....

Best regards

That sounds extreme,,,, re-install Windows next??

I also suffer the odd MSFS crash or hang.. no particular reason I can see.

MSFS has helicopters and a replay already by 3rd party developers, check flightsim.to.  Actually, for replay, there are multiple options, I can't keep up with all the different replay add-ons released for MSFS by 3rd party developers.  Asobo will officially add replay this year, and helicopters are scheduled by Asobo for 2022.  For the aircraft carrier, it will come with the Top Gun release this fall.  For particles, from what I am aware of, it should come in the July 27th update tomorrow (ie. water spray and snow spray on take off/landing, etc).  Much of what you wrote is inaccurate and it appears you are making stuff up but since you don't own MSFS, I'm not surprised.

I like this quote from 177b the most:

Quote

Well about 2 months ago I launched XP for the first time in a few months, and after about 5 minutes decided it was history.

I have 3 SSD's one M.2. And I had over 2 TB of X-plane extras.

Buying an extra SSD to store multiple TB of X-Plane is so old school and backwards.  It's extremely inconvenient for the consumer, as well as costing the consumer extra money to buy an SSD.  Who does that and who thinks that is a good usability model?  I'm glad I can save on the money of buying an extra SSD and I'm glad I don't have to waste my time downloading and manipulating ortho.

The worst part about X-Plane is that you have to spend so much $$$ on add-ons just to make it look good, and then you have to buy and extra SSD and download GBs (or TB) worth of ortho.  Or you can pay $60 USD for MSFS and everything just works out of the box.  Since I only spent $60 USD on MSFS, I now have extra money to spend on beefing up my computer (mind you, MSFS performs quite well even on older and outdated computers).  The money you spend on add-ons for X-Plane plus the money on an extra SSD to store ortho, can be used for spending on better parts for your computer if you had gone with MSFS.

@Bert Pieke extreme? re-install Windows next? Might be you have to..... The SU5 will not be intended to solve your problems, on rare ocassions it might help but be not surprised they get boosted..

Before the clean install of MSFS you have to deinstall it, with the Windows routine. Do not forget ! Main reason are the entries in the registry. Nothing will work if your registry is not cosher. And after deinstalling run a registry editor and remove all the dead entries from MSFS, or check at least there are some ...

If this does not help - new, clean install from Windows, or a backup that was running flawless before.

At the first glance at your list - could possible an error in the registry too.

I have both - Windows backup and backup from MSFS on a seperate drive. Proofed versions, running without any problems before ..... and not the first time I had to use at least the backup from Windows.

Best regards

Come on, you are smarter than the average troll and know very well that every software product has a roadmap. Is this really needed?

janov the x-plane troll. Sounds like he's a bit jealous of wishing his outdated x-plane was more like MSFS.

XPlane will always have it's niche.

I am actually not really sure the average XPlane user would even want XPlane to be released on XBox with the accompanying mass influx of generic unwashed proletariat gamer types.

Double standards. Calling every post I ever do - no matter how reasonable - "trolling" is needed, then? 😉

If we want to have a "normal" discussion or debate about different simulators - and I think that can be very fruitful for both sides - then you need to reign in your fellow "Troll, Troll, Troll" chanters as much as you feel the need to reign in users that dare say that other simulators have merit, too.

It is funny how jarmstro keeps calling the X-Plane supporters a "cult". I am not sure if the MSFS supporters can really be called open minded, either?

PS: I can make a "roadmap" for a flightsimulator that will blow all existing simulators combined out of this planet in about 15 minutes. Does that make my flightsimulator better? Hic Rhodus, hic salta!

And thanks, I know I am smarter than the average troll. I also know I am smarter than most of the people here calling me a troll as well 😄.
