OPIS, Islamabad, to OAIX, Bagram - Part 2, Afghanistan

Featured Replies

So, here we are just over the border into Afghanistan, and the landscape is certainly changing. I don't know how accurate this default scenery / imagery is - I assume it's reasonably good - but the place has a desolate beauty for me. Like a lot of things on this planet, it seems a mighty shame that the human race has managed to get in here and proceed in its usual fashion to scr*w things up and make misery out of beauty.

Anyway, just up from where the previous set left off

Wow, great screenies, Andy. Some of them reminded me of one of the old Stallone Rambo movies.

Any attempt to stretch fuel is guaranteed to increase headwinds

My specs: AMD Radeon RX6700XT, AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, 32GB RAM, 34" monitor, screen resolution: 2560x1080

Were you online, Andy ? Not sure but some of the pics give the feeling of the offline ground texture .

Cheers Bernd. Never did see any of those Rambo movies - I could live with the Terminator stuff from Arnie, but Rambo seemed one 'duh' too far for me <grin>.

I know what you mean Dominique, but I checked at the time as I thought it looked a bit FSXish in places but my avatar was still showing in the main menu and the marketplace was there as well (both of which are what tipped me off to being offline a week back, in spite of showing all online on the data menus). I plan to do a flight from Bagram down to Kandahar, which will take me back over Kabul again so I'll see what that looks like on that flight.

I didn’t make myself clear enough, I meant in General>Data, is the option Bing Data World Graphics on?

Sorry, I should have said - Bing world data and PG both on. My comments about the avatar etc are because I had a problem a week ago where I was running offline even with the Bing and PG options being set on. The missing avatar and marketplace were the only signs of what was happening (I'd been signed off in the Xbox desktop app, or some such thing). But all was good for this flight. Supposedly.
