Sadly, I think you're right.

I really want them Microsoft/Asobo to get it right but this mandatory stuff isn't IMO.

Kind regards,

Tim

The reduced FOV LOD popping issue is a good example of what should not be necessary on a powerful computer. It may be necessary to stay within VRAM/RAM specs on an Xbox, but not on a PC.

And now we don't have a choice.

We need a LOD slider for Field of View, not only distance.

And probably on the older version of X Box, so they really have dumbed it down.

I agree, you should be able to control your own computer/software. You can roll-back your updates in windows, remember every system is different.

Darryl

thank you...I will look into doing that after this one is finished downloading.

Tim

Yes they made it for both the Xbox Series X as well as the less powerful Series S.

Like we haven't been pandered to for the last year.  C'mon fair is fair.

Cheers

you are right....but why this mandatory apparent "step backwards" to undo that?  I hope I'm wrong.

Tim

Series S, I forgot the name of the previous version.

The client (MSFS) likely needs to be on the same version as the server (which streams the scenery). You can't have your cake and eat it too... Like the streaming satellite imagery? This is the only model that is feasible. Don't care about the beautiful scenery? Turn it off in the options and unplug your machine from the internet, or turn to one of the other sims that will never look this good. It's that simple.

I don't get the complaining. Just tested it and it looks amazing. Getting 50 FPS on ultra. I fly virtually daily and always used high-end. It's not perfect, I guess there's minor scenery popping (?) but it looks better than pre-update and lightyears better than P3D...

If you use TrackIR or similar peripherals, you look around while you fly. And every time you look somewhere, it looks like a blast wave over the landscape with things popping into view. That's the issue.
